Lurkers, we know you're out there! :chaplin: Why not join in here and tell us why it is you lurk.

Are you reading up on information? Maybe your schedule doesn't allow much time for socializing online? Or perhaps you're afraid to post because you're the shy type?

Most likely, whatever the reason, we've all been there at one point. We all started out as "n00bs".

I remember the first forum I ever visited. It was on the Heaven gaming site for Caesar III. Anyone remember that game? It was awesome (I loved all Sierra's City Building games and still have every one)! I had so many questions, most of which were answered just by reading what had already been posted. Then one day I had a question no one had asked yet. That was the beginning of my VERY long relationship with forums.

jerez

Hi, I'm jerez. This might be my last post before returning to lurk mode, :), I don't ever say much. I am playing (trying to) Sims3 on a Mac pro laptop which is loaded for graphic & multimedia applications and Sims3 keeps killing it. VERY frustrating. Thanks for all the info, it helps knowing it may not be personal incompetence, just a poorly designed/rushed to market product.
Jerez, Welcome ! Even if you do return to lurking, it was good to hear from you! :D

Yes, this game is enough to drive anyone completely mad.
Oh, and we may be all mad here. ;) I definitely want to say welcome too!

It is a truth, many of us have experienced many head banging moments with this game. Without the on-line communities and their help, I would have been lost long ago. :giggle:
I tend to lurk on a lot of places without actually saying very much. But I'm here. I had a lot of CS3 stuff downloaded in the past til my laptop went on strike and I had to reset the whole thing! Consequently I lost nearly all my stuff (the one time I didn't back everything up). I'm now trying to hunt down all the wonderful things that disappeared.

::Waves to everyone:

Cassi
Wave2 Hi Cassi! and Welcome I've also been there, had the computer do the same thing, It think it was when I had Sims2 installed. I had not backed up my stuff, so I had to start again from scratch. It might have even happened to me with Sims3. That is so frustrating when it happens. Smack:hug3:

I hope your hunt goes well for finding things. This sight just got going again (it had to be rebuilt from scratch), so if you can't find something, just ask, and we'll see if it is available, if someone still has it, as some of the things haven't quite made it to the new site yet. Sunshine
Hi, Cassi! :wave3:

I'm happy you delurked, even if it may only be for a short time. As Tonya said, if you're having trouble finding something just give a yell in the WCIF section. :)

MacFusty

Hi - I'm Kat (or Mac is fine). I have the same username on the Sims 3 forum, but I lurk there as well as anywhere! :D

I'm not sure why I lurk. I used to be chatty on many different forums, long, long ago...but I think I've grown a little quieter and a bit more calm in my old age. I don't want to say I'm turning into the reclusive lady in the odd house down the street, but it's starting to look that way... Laughtingoutloud_32x32

I joined mainly for tips, ideas and inspiration. I only have recreations of TS2 and Life Stories lots in my Sims 3 Studio. I get such a kick out of seeing old, beloved characters in TS3. But eventually I would really like to create my own original lots and worlds and not be so limited...I'm just not sure where to start.

CAW seems daunting, but I've dabbled around in it enough to understand the basics. As for building, I've never been particularly good at that aspect of custom creation.

I'm also here because I absolutely LOVE finding new neighborhoods to play, and simmers in the CAW community have created some mind-blowing, knock-yer-socks-off worlds. I'm hoping to find more!

Anyway...I look forward to lurking here, there, and everywhere...and maybe crawling out of my shell every now and then.

Whee
Name's Fisha well usually it's Fisha694 or Fisha695 but most people just call me Fisha, I'm pretty well-known online throughout the NASCAR racing game community whether it be at EA when they had the NASCAR rights or Eutechnyx who has them now or some forums for the NR2003 PC game. That being said I'm a member of tons of other types of forums but mostly a lurker on them as well, I really only post a ton on a couple racing related forums.

I was born in 1988 and was introduced to the "Sim" franchise in the mid 90s when I bought the original SimCity & SimTower at a yardsale, then onto SimCity 3000 followed by the other Sims game (and it's expansions) which was a game I spent many long nights on dial-up internet downloading all kinds of addons for. I skipped out on Sims 2 because my PC at the time wasn't strong enough to run it, but I got a newer one in-time for Sims 3.

Growing up most kids on Saturday/Sunday mornings would watch cartoons but I'd always watch the Home Renovation, Gardening & Automotive programs which I guess those first two part of the reason I love the Sim franchise of games.

I probaly won't post much from here on out although I see on the main page a "EA Renovation Challenge" and while I'm a "day late & dollar short" for that one if things like that are a regular thing here I'll probaly get involved in them.

Hi, Fisha! :wave3:

I think Suzetter has plans for running some more building challenges and we'd love to see what you can do. :D

revgymmie

Well hello, i'm a true lurker and you can call me Gymmie. In fact this thread convinced me to join the site. I have been getting more into custom content, mainly because I use Sims to create videos. However, the process has been slow and sometimes tedious. I am a member on other sites but just have not started talking to other creators. I am a true introvert so even online I find myself just reading the different post and not commenting or asking questions. After reading this post, I said maybe I should join and start participating. So i'm hoping to be active and in the process stop scratching my head so much with this stuff and actually start producing results.

So thanks for this thread and thanks for a quiet site to join.
Hi Gymmie and welcome to CS3. Sunshine
Gymmie, Welcome

I occasionally watch Sims machinima and seriously I'm just in awe over the stuff people put together. I don't even think I can imagine how many hours go into making just one video. :shockedcow:
Hi, Gymmie. Welcome to CS3.

(I've seen several Sims videos, and there are some amazing things people do with them.)

mcveighjess

The delurkification thread. That is one of the most fantastic starts to a thread I have ever seen. I love the fact that games like The Sims can bring all of us lurkers, developers and other weirdos together. :) I am a member in a lot of communities, but since I mostly download and play (I don't create) I usually feel like I don't have anything productive to add. Thanks for fixing that for me. :)
