CC not packaging
Hope this is in the right forum. I have been struggling with my game for the last few weeks about the problem of CC not packaging with lots when submitting to other sites, so thought I would share how I solved the problem. Okay, I found out why the CC is not packaging in my lots and thought maybe others might want to know how I solved the problem in case it happens to them. It had been recommended by several people that I delete the files in the dcbackup folder (found in the Sims3 folder)as it can get fairly large over time. If I understood right, the game did not need those files since they were stored elsewhere.

Well, I did this and then had major problems trying to get my CC to package with my lots when I was ready to make a submission. I had to do a vanilla game to get my lot to package again. Still not making the connection, a week or so later, I tried to package another lot and the same problem came up. Suddenly, I realized that every time I deleted those files, my game did not package the CC. So I reinstalled all my CC back into the dcbackup folder and everything worked fine after that. Hopefully, the problem will not surface again.

Others have told me that they have been deleting those files for some time, but maybe at some point with a patch or a ep, the game has changed how it packages files in the lots, I don't know. All I know is that my game is working now, so I won't be messing with those files again. Other lot builders have had this problem as well when deleting the files in the dcbackup folder, so it is not an isolated glitch.

Hopefully, this thread will help someone else if they should ever have such a problem. :D
Why thank you for the info, this is helpful to everyone that didn't know that, as I didn't know that myself, it seems no matter what you try to do to save space, ea always finds a way to take the space you save, they should pay us for space used lol.
Hi, Judy! It's definitely not a glitch but the way the game is designed to work in that it has to pull the stuff to package from those back-up files to add to lots or Sims. Since I don't want CC accidentally attaching itself to a build, I make sure to delete all of those files after installing anything with the launcher on a regular basis but that's because when I share stuff I need it to be CC-free. Not everyone does, though, so yes they need those back-up files.

If you want to share something and guarantee no CC in it, you can also move the files from the DCBackup directory to a temporary directory either on your desktop or somewhere else on the hard-drive.

Did you mention the problem of the CC not packaging with the lots a while back to me? I'm thinking you did but my brain has been so fuzzy and distracted with everything going on that I'm not always thinking straight.

Good for you for figuring it out, and yes, this will be helpful for people who might be having the same problem. :)
Glad this infor was helpful. And yes, Regina, I did mention I was having problems with CC not loading with the packaged lots. I have it straight now, so that won't happen again. I check my no CC lots with Custard, but am not sure I even trust it now. I will just do the best I can and hope no CC gets by me.
You did, and I should have figured it out because I know some of these things! Laughtingoutloud_32x32

Custard is good at picking up stuff you don't want packaged with a lot but I prefer prevention over the cure. I have a bunch of lots that I downloaded ages ago that I need to run through Custard before putting them back in my game. I ended up with all kinds of stuff I didn't want when I installed them. Some CC I would never want to be without but I don't use much and I want to make sure what little I do use is there because I added it, not because someone else decided I needed it. :bag: I downloaded a few Sims early on that even included pay content from various websites. That really irked me.

I also like to chose what CC I have in my game. I never download lots or sims, so it is not a problem for me. But if I did, I would certainly use Custard to check it first. I love that program.
