Hi all, LoserInc lost this file when her computer crashed, so I've uploaded it for her because I have a copy on my backup drive, as she said it was okay to do so. Also, I've played this world, and it is gorgeous, so I'm so happy that I have a copy to share. Sunshine

Edit 6/11/11: I've uploaded the few lots that I made for Asgaard to the Peddler's Wagon Towns & Lots section here:

http://customsims3.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?fid=36

Here's the original post by LoserInc:

"another world that was partially finished.

Asgaard :) Med map. Small island surrounded by mountains. Lush and complete with waterfall. Lots of trees.

Tested in game, there are a ton of trees, but if you put down a lot, it will delete those trees, so they won't be in the way of making lots."

Hello,

Actually, I canNOT put a lot where there are trees, (gives me the red lot grid), unless there is a cheat that I am not aware of.

That totally sucks: this map is PERFECT to build some lots in corners.

Any chance to upload one WITHOUT trees in the corners, or teach me how to remove them?

Thanks!
It's possible that where you were trying to put a lot the road might be in the way just a little bit. I've had that problem in many worlds. It looks like it should go there but for some weird reason it doesn't. But since I've not learned Create a World tool yet I have done what I can without that. Sometimes the lot has to be set just a little bit back from the road in order to place it. I've done that with a few lots when adding them to a world. I use lots that look okay that way when doing it, like ones that don't have a very defined walkway to the road and such.

"In Game Edit" is where you should be while placing lots in "Edit Town" mode. That's where you can put in more blank lots, trees, etc. Then you can grab a hold of any trees you don't want and delete them or you can move them to a different spot on the map. Because of how beautiful Asgaard is with all the trees, I just moved a lot of them around to place my lots because it looked good to me to have a lot of trees. I put a lot of lots in this world and had very little trouble doing it. Sometimes you just have to play around with it a bit to get the lot to work in a spot.

I don't mean to be rude, but your reply did NOT answer to my question at all!

Matter of fact, I think it is something against me. Every time I post for help in a forum, whichever forum it is, I have had replies that are cute, friendly, talkative, prolix, amusing, but that does NOT offer answers to my issue. I don't know what to blame: is it my bold, anti-arse-kissing, and very straight-to-the-point European way, or is it my english fluency that leaves much to be desired?

Fact is, please, do not look down at someone who asks for help. I can only assure you, that I am not a total illiterate that started to play The Sims yesterday, and that just because we ask for help about something, it doesn't mean we know nothing at all. Even a CEO hires engineers, which would not be needed if they were so almighty to have all the answers.

Having said that, I kind of know, after 2 years playing the darn thing, that you cannot place plots on roads - the big RED placement mark is a dead give-away, I suppose - and that I have to go to 'edit town' to place lots. What I just said on my first post, which I thought was very bold and straight to the point, is that for some reason or another, it seems I CANNOT delete trees or put lots where they exist.

And in my first post, I did ask specifically, about the specific help I need. I will repeat just in case it was not very clear, I am sorry if my english grammar or fluency came out as something no one can understand.

1 - I can NOT put the plots where trees are. Even though the description says if we put the plots the trees will be deleted, I am UNABLE to do so. So, is there a cheat that allows me to kill the trees and/or place my lots where I want them to be? (I have not found any).

2 - If there is NOT a cheat or any other given method in which I can't edit the game to remove the trees, or place plots, is there any chance to have the map without trees in the corners?

I apologize if the reply sounds crude. Perhaps even offensive for some more touchy, sensitive eyes and ears. But believe me, it is not nearly as offensive as being (mis)taken by a totally illiterate and looking down upon for asking for a specific help in a specific subject and receiving unhelpful cuteness, instead of a more professional, straight to the point, easy to follow instructions to solve my problem. And it might be true that I am not paying for "customer support", but I'd gladly pay/donate for a site/creator that helps me out, than have free but unfruitful answers.

So, offensive by offensive, let us forget about who is offended and if possible, stick to a simple answer, to a simple question. It might, after all, be the question of many others who are wanting to have corner buildings in this gorgeous map, but are unable to place them for the very same reasons. More people will benefit from more technical answers.

With my best regards,

Giu C
GuiCee, Tonya's post did not sound like she was looking down on you in any way.

You gave very limited information and she was asking a question based on your information. How is she to know with the limited information you posted that you're a "Sims 3 expert"?

Here are your questions:
Quote:Actually, I canNOT put a lot where there are trees, (gives me the red lot grid), unless there is a cheat that I am not aware of.

Here is her answer:
Quote:Then you can grab a hold of any trees you don't want and delete them or you can move them to a different spot on the map.

Which, in my opinion, did not talk down to you but explained how to "remove" trees as you asked.

There can be places on a map where objects can never be placed in the game. For those who may not know this I'll go into a little bit of detail. Lots can't be placed without at least one tile between them and a road. They can't be placed in areas that have been marked with no-routing paint. They can't be placed over the top of spawners. It should be possible to place lots on top of existing trees and rocks. Of course EA does tend to break the game every time a new expansion pack or update is released so whether or not being able to place lots over the top of objects if all other conditions are met, could have been changed.

There is no cheat for placing lots, and trees are removed by selecting them and pressing the Delete key on the keyboard.
Okey-dokey, Nope I was not try to talk down to you. As a matter of fact I sometimes could kick myself for not learning CAW, because I have run into a lot of problems while trying to place lots in the in game World Editor. I see that you too have experienced problems, so I can certainly relate. It gets very frustrating when I try to put a lot in my town and everywhere it shows red where it looks like it should be able to go. Smack

I'm uploading pictures to show you and others what I did with my Asgaard. I was already going to do this but had not yet had time. I did have some problems getting the lots exactly where I wanted them, but this world was a lot easier to place lots into than some others I've tried. Sometimes I had to use my imagination to put things in so they looked okay. I don't know that they look great, but I did what I could do with already made lots because I didn't want to completely build everything from scratch. A few things I did make from scratch and I'll probably upload those lots here in The Peddler's Wagon section. I don't think they're anything spectacular, but I like them, so someone else might have a use for them too.

The first pic is of the overhead view of town (just click on a pic to see a larger image):
[attachment=1822]
The second is a lot I didn't even try to place on the road and it looks fine to me, but maybe I'm just not that picky. It is a house I built, 12 Ridinghood Lane:
[attachment=1823]
Third is a lot from MTS creator Hraklis943. It's a remake of a Sims2 lot, 210 Wright Way. As you can see from the pic, I didn't even get this lot close to the road because it would not place that close to it.
[attachment=1824]
Then for the Consignment Store in Asgaard, I used one that was in Clawsywp's Acorn Bay world. This lot went nicely right up to the road:
[attachment=1825]
I also used the Grocery & Book Shoppes lot from Acorn Bay; where I put it it went up nicely to the road as well:
[attachment=1826]
Here's another lot from Acorn Bay; it's a fishing spot named Hollow Log Springs. This lot also does not sit right up to the road, but to me it looks great because it's a fishing spot. I like it here:
[attachment=1827]
Then I used the junk yard also from Acorn Bay. It sits on the corner, but with the bend in the road to the right is not exactly right, but it worked pretty well:
[attachment=1828]
This small Love's Orchard lot, also from Acorn Bay looks great by the river:
[attachment=1829]
The Acorn Bay Nectary did not go right up to the road. I just plopped it where it shows:
[attachment=1830]
And here's another park from Acorn Bay that I did not put near the road, instead I opted for a spot by the river, because to me it looks great there:
[attachment=1831]
Okay, for more pics of my version of this world:
First is Asgaard Bay:
[attachment=1835]
Then the pool house and rest area that I did build. I put them on two separate lots because there was not room near the bay for a larger lot:
[attachment=1839]
Inside my pool house:
[attachment=1840]
Inside the rest area:
[attachment=1841]
Another lot from Clawsywp's Acorn Bay, Pine Pass Campground, again, not by the road but rather by the river:
[attachment=1832]
Also from Acorn Bay, The Pink Cupcake Cafe; this one sits pretty well up to the road:
[attachment=1833]
And here's another one of my lots, the Archaeologist's Hideaway over by the river in front of the water falls. It sits nice and snugly up to the road; I think this is the perfect spot for this lot in this town:
[attachment=1834]
Then I used a lot made by Dantes here at CS3; it's a country house and it sits nicely up to the road:
[attachment=1836]
I just used the in game fire station and it placed well on a corner of a couple of town roads:
[attachment=1837]
I also put in my Fishing Lodge lot; it doesn't sit right up to the road in a straight fashion, but it does work well enough for me here:
[attachment=1838]
Then there's the Double Day Lodge, an in game house that's in the in game lot bin, and I found a spot where it sits pretty nicely up to the road:
[attachment=1842]
Next is Guppy Hills Pond that's an in game lot in Twinbrook; I put it right up to the lake in the town so it looks like they go together:
[attachment=1843]
And In game lot, Plumpuddle Park that I also put out in the middle of the green:
[attachment=1844]
Then there's the in game lot I put by the junkyard that went nicely up to the road:
[attachment=1845]
And Asgaard Memorial Hospital; this lot I made. It fit's nicely right up to the road in the "town" part of this world:
[attachment=1846]
Then there's the Run Down Farmhouse that I got from MiaC who used to be on the old CustomSims3 forum. It sits across the street from the junkyard by the river and fits nicely up to the road:
[attachment=1847]
One of the lots I built, the Classic Modern Beach house, I put by the river; in this spot it wouldn't go right up to the road, so I made it go with the river:
[attachment=1848]
Then I made a lot for Asgaard called the Old Time Diner, and it fit nicely on the corner of a couple of roads out near the residential part of my town:
[attachment=1849]
My Old Time Farmhouse also sits nicely by the road, but the road bends to the side of it and since it couldn't be truly on the corner, I put trees between the corner of the road and the lot:
[attachment=1850]
Pary, also from this site, made the Clean & Go Laundry I used for my Asgaard. It sits on a corner, but not completely straight on one side:
[attachment=1851]
Also used in my Asgaard is Pary's Simplistic Cottage; it sits between the road and the river, not completely straight with the road, but that's the best I could do with the in game World Editor:
[attachment=1852]
Then I used Pary's Uninterested house lot, which I expanded, so it looks a lot larger in this picture. I didn't put it exactly on the corner, I put some trees between it and the road here as well:
[attachment=1853]
Another lot of Pary's I used is her White Farmhouse, and this one sits pretty nicely up to the road:
[attachment=1854]
Okay, are you ready for more?

Next, I put in a LN lot, the Plumbob Pictures backlot. This lot did not go completely up to the corner, as the picture shows, but it went pretty close, so I thought it worked out well:
[attachment=1855]
Next is the Redone Farmhouse that I built. I put it on a corner, but it would not go completely up to the road on either side (you see, I don't understand why the in game World Editor works this way either):
[attachment=1856]
And a lot I built for my Risch family that I call the Risch Estate. It's also on a bend of the road, so all I could get up to the road is the driveway:
[attachment=1857]
I used the in game salon for this town as well. It fits nicely up to the road:
[attachment=1858]
Then the school lot I made for Asgaard works with the way the road curves here, so I could put the walkway to the road even though the lot doesn't fit squarely with it:
[attachment=1859]
I later added my Seaside Cottage lot that I built, and I did not put it by a road at all; I rather liked it over by the bay and river with just trees and grass around it:
[attachment=1860]
In town, I used Simbody's Artsy Fartsy stuff from her Liberty Bay world, and it fit well on the corner of two roads:
[attachment=1861]
Another lot from Simbody's Liberty Bay world I used was Elernal Slumber Cemetary. It fit nicely up to the road, but I have trees by the other road; I think it must be because I could not get the in game editor to cooperate and let me put it flush with the corner:
[attachment=1862]
I also used Liberty Bay's stadium lot; it sits well on a corner of town:
[attachment=1863]
I know, I know, I stole a lot of lots from Simbody's Liberty Bay, but I thought they looked great in this world; also made by Simbody is the No Excuses Gym:
[attachment=1864]
And yet another from Liberty Bay (You can't tell that I really, really like Simbody's work, can you?), her Oasis Pool, which fits up to the road quite well:
[attachment=1865]
And I believe that this park was made by Simbody as well; I put it in the residential area, and while it doesn't sit straight with the road, I like it here:
[attachment=1866]
More? Really? Have I bored you to death already? Yes there's more:

Next is another park that I think Simbody made (it's hard to remember for sure):
[attachment=1867]
Another lot I used from Simbody's Liberty Bay is her Reading Room that sits nicely on a corner of the town:
[attachment=1868]
And Simbody's Research & Development from Liberty Bay. It also sits up to the road without a problem (the lot to the left of the Science Facility is the Military Base made by Simbody from her Liberty Bay world as well):
[attachment=1869]
Sookielee's house, Drea Adair looks nice between the road and the river:
[attachment=1870]
Also Sookielee's Lilith Banan house works well between the road and the river:
[attachment=1871]
My Rustic Spacious house sits pretty well on a corner but will not fit up to it completely on both sides:
[attachment=1872]
I tried a dance club that came with Late Night, The Grind in the town, and it sits right up to the road:
[attachment=1873]
Then the town square, I put together myself on a huge lot right in the middle of town. It does not sit completely up to the roads, but it fits perfectly between them:
[attachment=1874]
A park I downloaded from MTS Hraklis943 is a remake of Woodland Park from Sims2. It also sits nicely in one of the town squares of Asgaard:
[attachment=1875]

And, honestly, I don't know why the in game World Editor doesn't work any better than it does. It has made me want to pull my hair out at times. I'll be looking at something and think, "this should work", but it doesn't with the World Editor that's in game. I don't know why. I don't know why I can place a tree sometimes in it and it works fine, and another time I try to place a tree, it winds up floating in the air. I'm not sure if everyone has had the struggles I've had with it, but with this game, it wouldn't surprise me if they did, because the other problems I've had with the game, others have had as well. It's frustrating and infuriating at best sometimes.

I've done the best I can with it; when it won't do something, then that seems to be that; it won't cooperate sometimes. It surely would be nice if EA had put it together with the regular Edit Town like Sims2 was. I don't even know if that's possible, but I could add all kinds of stuff in my Sims2 town and not have any of the problems I've had with this thing. Of course, I had none of the major problems with Sims2 that I've had with Sims3. Oh well, I keep learning, and maybe someday I'll have time to learn to use CAW, but I'm not holding my breath.

Oh la la.. That was a whole bunch of photos.

This one is what I WANT to do:

[Image: attachment.php?aid=1851]

This is how and why I can NOT do, uploaded in another site because I don't have the capability to upload an image here.

CLICK

See please that,

1 - It is not too close of the road, and if it was the game would not let me place the lot there, right? Well, the issue here is not the road, but the TREE. I cannot place OVER it, as the original post says
Quote:but if you put down a lot, it will delete those trees,
, well, that is not happening.

2 - The tree is at the corner. There are trees in EVERY corner of the "quadrant", so I cannot put the lots in ANY given corner of the map that has a tree.

3 - Happens the same in any side of the corner I try to put the lot.

4 - I do not "play" The Sims... I don't actually LIKE, to actually "play"; I just build the homes/business.

Hoping this (last) time it was clear enough for you,

Giu C.
When you click to place the lot, what is the message you are getting? If you haven't tried clicking to place it (while the lot is red) please do and let me know.

This may or may not be an issue with the tree (although considering you're not able to place near any trees I'm going with the assumption that it IS the tree and not something else).

Also, what happens when you manually delete the tree as I suggested in my previous post?
Yes, definitely, some more info would be helpful. I've been trying to put a lot beside a road and the lot was red and I clicked like I was trying to place it and it gave me a message that the lot could not be placed on the road, even when it wasn't on the road. This is one of the things that has annoyed me very badly with this in game World Editor.

GiuCee

I had decided to ignore your post altogether for your rudeness on the first, but since you insist, lets put an end to this.

Quote:How is she to know with the limited information you posted that you're a "Sims 3 expert"?

I never claimed to be "expert" in anything, that was YOUR wording. I just said I am not a dumb who started to play yesterday and can't even read some FAQ, Walkthrough or Instruction Manuals. There is a difference between "not dumb" and "expert". There are a bunch of layers in between. I am not sure you can help me either if you don't know that little "difference" between a student of fifth grade, one in the first year of College, and a Masters Doctorate, PhD.

Quote:When you click to place the lot, what is the message you are getting? If you haven't tried clicking to place it (while the lot is red) please do and let me know.

I can't place the plot. I thought I had told that before. Oo

Quote:Also, what happens when you manually delete the tree as I suggested in my previous post?

For some bizarre reason, I can't do that either!!! The hand tool won't let me grab it, and if I lay down a lot nearby, I can't because it is out of my lot.

Quote:Yes, definitely, some more info would be helpful.

I cannot give what I do not have. I gave, however, all the information I could find, and if it was still not enough, that's not a problem, as I finally found a solution to this!!!

My first post was from the 10th of June. Giving so that it graces me with 2 days (with a 6 hour interval between them to sleep), trying to figure out a solution.

Since nothing satisfactory came - in which should be a simple answer to a simple issue, and even a "it is not possible" would be better than all this drivel - I just deleted the world, yay!!!

I found out other worlds to play with and create my buildings on. Funny is that, in one of those, I actually did manage to place a lot that did delete the trees. Then so be it! I prefer short "no"s than long "maybes".

I won't be receiving your replies anymore. If you are a moderator, feel free to remove my account now. After all, I have hated Forums since 1998; people on these only look down at you and reply unhelpful solutions anyway, not to count they love us so much they prefer to ban than leave an "unsubscribe" button anywhere on the user's control panel; so please, yes, do delete my account.

Thanks for nothing,

Giu C.
GiuCee, I understand your frustration but taking it out on us doesn't help. We've only been trying to help.

At any rate, your account will be removed at your request.
