The Sims 3: Showtime official - Lisfyre - 12-02-2011 04:22 PM Well... apparently, Showtime is official. Check this out: http://www.simprograms.com/ Well it is official, its up on the main sims3 page Sims 3 Showtime Seriously? I'm thinking of not getting another EP until EA comes up with one that includes weather. This just sounds lame. Like they ran out of ideas and are trying to figure out what to throw in to make an EP. Sheesh. I'm seriously disappointed. RE: The Sims 3: Showtime - Sookielee - 12-02-2011 05:08 PM If you don't want to make the jump here is what was posted at SimPrograms The Sims 3 Showtime–Now Confirmed! I hope that this is one of EA's stand alone sims games, like Medieval and not the next EP. The only other thing I can think of is that they are trying to expand Sim Social, with a full version game you can buy and use on facebook or some other social networking site. If this turn out to be the next EP, well Thank goodness for EA because my bank account will surely be larger. I will keep my game at pets and not update anything to prevent eavesdropping and facebook crap on my computer or in my game. I so hope it is a stand alone, not the EP. RE: The Sims 3: Showtime - tontrin - 12-02-2011 05:19 PM It would make sense that it could be a stand alone game. It would make for an extremely disappointing EP. There are already places that the sims can perform with LN, and build a career with a band. So, ya, I probably wouldn't buy it as an EP either. RE: The Sims 3: Showtime - Tangie - 12-02-2011 09:04 PM I read this yesterday and I swear my jaw dropped. Here it looked like for awhile (since that last guy in charge left, can't remember his name) that things were starting to head back in the right direction with the Sims, but if this is true, this would take it way off course again. Some consultants somewhere must be telling companies that they absoutely must get into the Twitter/Facebook thing and now they are shoving this stuff down our throats, it seems. Well, I don't participate in either and don't plan to, so if they want to go there they will go without me! ;) RE: The Sims 3: Showtime - suzetter - 12-02-2011 10:40 PM I stopped buying EPs with Late Night because I was so mad the acting/directing career was an RH career and the movie lot was an RH. I probably won't buy this either because EA will probably make all these venues rabbit holes which to me is basically a non-existant. I don't do facebook and I'm not sending my Sims to anyone nor do I want anyone sending me their Sims either. So this idea sounds awful to me. However, if the EA development team got off their behinds and it turns out I can see my Sims sing, perform, do magic tricks, and dj o0n screen (not in a RH way) than I would run to buy it. I loved Superstar and was very entertained by the performing Sims. I think having more animated action on screen (rather than off screen with pop up msgs) would be the right direction for the game to go in to resume some of what made me love the Sims to begin with. But going by past experience with TS3 it wouldn't surprise me if all the new actrivities and venues were actually unanimated RH and we witness none of the activity on screen but are informed of it via msgs. If I can see my sims sing, perform, etc -- than I say YAY!!! If not and its all RH action than I say - NO THANK YOU!!! And as for weather, I can't imagine EA being able to implement weather in the open environment. They've fumbled game workings with smaller lot specific things so what makes people think they can do neighborhood wide weather? RE: The Sims 3: Showtime - Regina - 12-02-2011 10:44 PM Well, if this is another expansion pack I can definitely say it's one I don't want!
RE: The Sims 3: Showtime - Judy Sims - 12-02-2011 10:58 PM I, too, won't be buying the next ep if it is just a bunch of rabbitholes. I am not sure this would be anything I would want anyway. All we got with that movie career was a bunch of paparazzi hanging around all over town. They drive me nuts with no way to get rid of them. I like to choose if my sim becomes a celebrity, not have it thrust upon them by talking to the wrong sim. And I hate Titter and Facebook. I do not want any part of that in my game. I am getting really tired of it being crammed down my throat everywhere I go. I play Sims to escape reality. EA just can't get it right anymore.:( If they want to give us something really great, give us what they promised with the first EP. The ability to recolor EVERYTHING in our game. And that means every part of it. RE: The Sims 3: Showtime - Regina - 12-02-2011 11:25 PM Oh goodness yes, I SO want the ability to recolor roofs! I would like to be able to recolor fire and burglar alarms, but I REALLY want to be able to recolor roofs! I also want to be able to recolor the kids' toys. I'm pretty sure there are more things I'd love to be able to recolor but they aren't as big to me as the roofs. RE: The Sims 3: Showtime - tontrin - 12-02-2011 11:45 PM It would be great to be able to recolor roofs and the kids' toys. It doesn't make sense that everything isn't able to be recolored by now. I agree that if they go in the direction of having more out in the open interactions and less RH ones, it would be a step in the right direction. RH's are annoying. RE: The Sims 3: Showtime - Sookielee - 12-03-2011 07:23 AM With the facebook stuff that seem to be a part of this (if it is an EP) I don't think I would even patch my game. You know EA would put that in the patch. Personally I think EA is jealous and want to collect data on sim players so they can get rich off selling it like facebook does. I so agree about going into other players games, no thank-you. If this is the direction the game is taking, them I might end up spending the money on the stuff packs and not bother with anything else. I have a strong suspicion that there will be many in the community that will do the same. Just because SimSocial is hugely popular on facebook does not mean that TS3 players want it in their game. I do so have my fingers and toes crossed that this is something separate from our game that is based on Sims 3. I mean this idea would be great for the consoles, just keep it out of my pc version. RE: The Sims 3: Showtime - Regina - 12-03-2011 02:31 PM The Facebook stuff was already put in the game with the Pets update, probably with just this type of thing in mind. It's optional, though, as in I have all that stuff turned off and don't even let my game access the internet. I'm just really tired of companies thinking that my information is their information and the longer it goes the worse it's getting. I was reading a news article the other evening on a new system that's being tested in a couple of malls. The customer walks into the mall and the system grabs their cell phone signal and follows them all over the mall to track their shopping habits. This is just wrong. It's getting worse both with digital and non-digital information. After I changed my sister's address so her mail would come to me, I started getting anywhere from twelve to twenty pieces of junk mail a month, about half of them in her name. For some reason my current address had managed to stay pretty much under the radar for a number of years (it has changed a couple of times because of postal stuff and when it did I only updated the companies I actively use, like utilities, insurance, etc.). Then I put that change of address in for her and *boom* it was out there everywhere. I even started getting junk mail in my maiden name which I haven't used for nearly thirty years! Fortunately, a couple of months of making a few phone calls and using the postage paid envelopes to return my address cut out of what they sent with big red letters saying "REMOVE THIS ADDRESS FROM YOUR MAILING LIST" looks like it's paying off but seriously no one should have to put up with this nonsense. I was getting not one, but multiple mailings per month from just about every credit card company that exists plus bunches more with my daughters' names on them. (American Express wastes more money on their publications than any other CC company does--they sent out huge, glossy, heavy-stock multi-fold ads.) I thought well, you all are spamming me so I'm just going to spam you right back wasting even more of your money. The largest stack I mailed had fourteen postage-paid envelopes in it. The cable companies ads were ridiculous. Every month there'd be at least two from Dish and Cable One. I finally called them and told them I don't even have a TV, nor do I want one, and my sister they're trying to advertise to is permanently disabled and living in a group home, so their services are completely useless for me. I haven't seen an ad from either for a few months now. All the while I was going through this it just irked me that someone out there is PROFITING from selling MY information! RE: The Sims 3: Showtime - Simbody - 12-03-2011 03:47 PM Well talk about LAME! I will not be buying this game stand alone or EP it neither will enhance my current game, nor appeals to me as a stand alone option. Sim Social on FB is ridiculous at best. Yeah I have tried it, my family across country uses FB and after years of pestering my mother, sister and I gave in. It is such a waste of time, but when I only have 5 minutes of free time, or need a mini break from studying 5 or 10 minutes on a game helps keep the stress down. Sim Social is the last game I enjoy playing, unless I am willing to buy sim social dollars there is about 5 minutes of game play until my sim is out of usable energy. Most FB games are the same, you can do 15-30 things then have to wait a few hours to have the 'energy' to do more. I don't dare open TS3 because I will spend 30 min to an hour in there and not get my homework done ;) I decided to keep it since in my sim wanderings I spend more time on internet friends than on family so FB draws them into the picture. With Generations and Origin they add the ability to chat with friends through Origin, and share your memories on twitter and Facebook. It came with the patch for Generations, I believe, I disabled all of that and I never shared memories anywhere other than the exchange. So if we already have most of this why would we have a new EP that repeats it and only adds one new feature, the passport? It seems more likely a stand alone game. Either way I already decided I was done with TS3 after Pets. I have enough of what I want, have to use enough mods to keep it running right and since EA won't fix the numerous bugs they keep throwing at us then I won't continue to pay for Beta version games. :D RE: The Sims 3: Showtime - Regina - 12-03-2011 07:01 PM EA is going to have to come out with something really spectacular to convince me to buy another expansion pack (although I still plan on getting Generations at some point). I really feel like, especially for the amount of time I actually get to play, my game is pretty complete. They're never going to bring out anything as cool as OFB for TS2 was, I can see that now. I do enjoy many aspects of Ambitions but it's still not the same as running your own business. WA is fun in spurts but not something I can do all the time. I do enjoy the objects that came with it regularly, though, and when I do want to play that aspect it's there. This bit of info about Showtime struck me in an odd way: Quote:• Exclusive Limited Edition content: Get a bonus venue and stage for your Sims! I was thinking, wait! You've spent three sentences repeating the exact same information. And I'm supposed to get all excited over an exclusive stage and venue! Okay, so that was in the Generations update. I downloaded it and installed Pets at the same time so I'm never sure which came with what. RE: The Sims 3: Showtime - Judy Sims - 12-04-2011 12:03 AM I agree, Regina. It is criminal how these companies get our personal information and see all that crap in the mail. I get all that stuff through my email, too. It will be real heavy until I block all of it and then it stops for a while. I was on some site and my Facebook page popped up suddenly. That is what makes me mad. How did they get my Facebook page? I have that disabled in my game, but I think it is too late. If it was not for my relatives, I would try to delete the page out. Can you do that??? LOL I wish I had never gotten on it, but I do get a lot of family pics that I would not get otherwise, so I guess I just have to put up with it. I get some strange postal mail sometimes. Mail for my mother, my son, even my dead uncle and aunt. It is very aggravating. The only mail I haven't gotten would be from my ex. LOL RE: The Sims 3: Showtime - Regina - 12-04-2011 01:09 AM No, you don't have to put up with it. Get your family to move to Google Plus, or any one of the other social networking sites that have good privacy policies. I'm not keen on big corporations but at least Google isn't collecting every little piece of information they can then pretending it's a bug, then saying they fixed it only to have it end up doing the same thing again (Google ads do track but Google also has a page with instructions on how to opt out of that tracking--there's even instructions and a link on the Privacy Policy page here as per Google's requirements). These kind of shenanigans is exactly why Facebook was taken to court and why there's been a ruling against them to get this kind of thing straightened out, and why they're going to be monitored for the next twenty years.) The court ruling is also forcing Facebook into deleting accounts of members who want them closed. They've been refusing to do that but the judge told them they have to delete them after one month. The problem is, all too many people just go with the flow. They may not like something but they're too complacent to change. If you don't like the way a company works there are other options. |
