Keeping Uploaded Lots & Sims Free of Custom Content
This is the summation of a thread posted on the old forum.
User created custom content installed from Sims3Pack files will attach itself to any lot or Sim on which that CC is used. This is not a design flaw on EA's part, it is simply the way the game is designed to work. When Sims3Pack files are installed into the game, a copy of the content is stored in the DCBackup directory in the My Documents area of the game. As long as there's a copy in the DCBackup directory it WILL attach itself to a lot or Sim that is packaged into Sims3Pack format IF it was used on the lot or Sim. If you want to make sure you don't inadvertently share custom content, one easy method is to delete all the files within the DCBackup directory every time something has been installed into your game through the launcher. The content will still be in your game but it won't be packaged with lots or Sims. You can also double-check the Sims3Pack files using Delphy's Sims3Pack Cleaner Tool. A picture tutorial for using the tool can be found on GlitzyAngel's Blog. Another super easy way to avoid inadvertently packaging custom content with a Sim or lot is to archive the lot or Sim file without packaging them into Sims3Pack files. See Custom Sims Downloaded in .sim Format and Custom Lots Downloaded in .package Format. |
