Howdy Howdy Howdy
Guess I should at least say Hi to everyone, I"m the new old fart on the block I guess. Not going to say my age but I bet I could probably be the Grandfather or Father to most of you all on this forums. LOL I was just thinking about this and I'm kind of surprised that I've actually been on the internet for about what was it.. oh yea...25 yrs now..

I haven't been in Sims3 long, only started last August and then started into House (Lots) making in Septemberish and I guess you could say I kinda make some eye candy lots now and then.

If any of you are familiar with Social Sims or Sims3 Community then you've probably seen houses I've made, I have also posted on TSR under the screen name of Santera.

Most of the time I don't have a plan to the houses I build, they just happen, but there are times I do use floor plans to houses as well. The current house I'm working on - Vampire Estates - is one of those houses that just kinda HAPPENED.. Laughtingoutloud_32x32

I don't yet know this site's image requirements so any images I want to post will be as a link only - that'll take ya to photobucket to see the images.

Here's a few of the houses I've made to give ya an idea:

This house - the livable part - is totally underground and has about everything you need - Pool, study, exercise area....

Old Army Depot

This house is totally built over a pool, I made it for the owner of Sims 3 Community - a German Sims 3 site - and yea you can fish in it as well...

Bobo's Retreat

Lastly - 2 screen shots for this one - this is one of my 3 favorite house I've completed so far, it's called Old Doc Holliday's. It's an older Victorian type house that was left abandoned but furnished, and if you're lucky enough you can find the item that activates the hidden stairway to the basement although if you're squeemish I wouldn't go down there....

House Front

Hidden Basement

Ok, gonna shut up now - I talk to much sometimes LOL

I'll just kick back until I can think of something new to make.. :bounce:

Welcome to CS3!
I usually don't post in threads like this, but reading your claim for the title of a grandfather or father of most of all the members here I feel challenged to fight for this title ;). In other words, you're not allone in your age. And of course I already stepped upon your houses over there.
Happy simming!

RE: Howdy Howdy Howdy
I doubt if you're old enough to be -my- grandfather :) I stopped counting years when I turned 21, but I had my 27th wedding anniversary last October.

Hi_byGhost :welcometocs3:

I love those houses. I hope you decide to participate in the Building challenges. (Starting with the February one.)

RE: Howdy Howdy Howdy
:wave3: Welcome to CS3! Goodness, I'd love to have someone around here old enough to be my grandparent! Mine have all been dead for many years now and I really do miss them. I don't even have parents any more, buried the last one this last summer. I still have some aunts and uncles alive, though, and one great-aunt who was the youngest in her family so not all that much older than the younger generation. I also had a 27th wedding anniversary last summer but I didn't stop counting my age at twenty-one like Ghost did. I just keep forgetting how old I am. :headbang: I'm not a grandparent but there are a few here who are so you're in good company!

:hmm: Maybe we should have an official logo about being a forum of "old farts" or some such. :bounce:

BogSims Institute, where you won't find much, but what you do find may be useful.

RE: Howdy Howdy Howdy
LOL I'm impressed with the number of older players here, it's good to not be among the oldest! LOL

Welcome Santori. My grandfather, the last remaining grandparent, died a few years ago at the age of 99. I doubt you're that old, but maybe you're old enough to be my parent. Barely! LOL

Seriously, it's always good to meet new people. Welcome!

P.S. I find your avatar... disturbing. I keep wanting to swat the bug away! LOL

Just a note...

I know the problem of that other avatar I was using, when I first saw it I thought it was a bug on my screen too! LOL

I'm going to keep this new one for a while .. I don't want to pull out my old one that I've used for at least 10 yrs on other forums .. just yet. This one kind of goes with my Psychotic House Designing.. LOL

RE: Howdy Howdy Howdy
Welcome to a really great site here at Custom Sims 3. The people are all friendly and helpful. As like you when I first got online I would set the telephone headset on my modem after dialing up and confirming connection. Back then 200 baud was fast, and it would take hours to download enough data to fill a floppy disk. My first brand new computer was a Motorola with toggle switches used to enter the machine code( I also had to build it as it came in a kit). I later designed a numeric keypad for it which made programming and data entry much easier. Those were the days. Look at what we do with them now, Then think of what we may be doing in another 30 years. It's mind boggling. Welcome from O-Decaff

RE: Howdy Howdy Howdy
I know it's been a little bit since I first posted here in this section, I guess I should get off my posterior and elaborate a little more...... within reason - I tend to babble a lot! LOL

I was an avid player of SimCity since version 2 came out, at the time (this was back when I still had a job) I was a Construction Special Inspector - I worked at private Lab and would go to construction sites (residential, commercial, industrial and Governement) and perform inspections and sampling as needed. SimCity 2 and 3 and 4 really got me into this type of game, but I am also into First Person Shooters. Until recently I had gone by the screen name of ArcticWolf..

One of the 1st person shooters I played was Delta Force Land Warrior and this is where I learned how to make player maps for the game and I met a guy online who taught me how to make Co-op Maps (Cooperative - where all players are on the same side against the computer NPC's) and I stated making Hard Core Co-op's - where the players are given a set of rules and the enemy they are fighting are harder to kill. I knew there were a lot of kids who played and just loved to play RAMBO and take their machine gun and go off and kill everything in site and run to the end of the map to finish it. My snipers were super expert, if you ran over the top of a hill playing Rambo you'd almost instantly find yourself dead.

Honestly, I hosted my maps and had people come in and that's exactly what they did.

Anywho, to continue...

When I started with Sims 3 and basically taught myself how to make lots, at first they were simple and adding gardens and that was fairly easy. Some call it attention to detail. I guess I can thank my job (that I was laid off from 3 yrs ago almost) and my 12 years in the US Army (as a Military Policeman) for learning to pay attention to details! As of my last 10 lots, I put in the basic house - still with no windows, doors or wall coverings, only a roof and then go on and totally complete the outside with trees, gardens, walkways, pools or what ever, and only then go on and go inside and complete the interior of the house before I finally add the outside patterns and then finally walk though (in the editor) to make sure all is ok. After this I go in game to make sure all is ok before finally posting the house.

Ya know, when you look at something for too long you have a tendency to see a problem but not see it and yes I do miss things sometimes. Recently I went back to a lot I build a couple month ago and found 2 problems looking right at me, how did I miss that?

"Can't see the forest for the trees" I guess it's called....

If there's any world builders (I have yet to figure out how to do ANYTHING in that stupid cheapo World Editor) and you find any of my lots you wish to use, please go ahead and use them. Just a note of Thanx in the description or someplace would be all I ask.
