Group Neighborhood Project (We have a world!!)
Good news,f everyone![/Prof. Farnsworth]water_cat has graciously agreed to let us use Awesome Cove for our world! He's asked that we keep the houses that are already there, but other than that we can do as we like, including renaming it for the project. All praise water_cat!
As soon I get the CAW files, I'll have more info for you guys. [b]Purpose of the Project: This is a reboot of the group project from the old boards to create a neighborhood comparable to the Maxis ones. My hope is that we can finish a full custom neighborhood by next September by working together. Current Task(s): Job Sign-Ups! We need:
If you're interested in any of these jobs, please post here to let me know, or PM me with any questions. Once we have at least a partial team, we can vote on which EPs will be included, if there will be custom content, etc. Current Job List CAW Expert Job available! Sim Makers 1. Sark 2. tontrin 3. Ikandak 4. Job available! Builders 1. Razr 2. Ikandak 3. DasBHB 4. shad0w 5. Job available! We are currently operating under the assumption that we will have the same four areas in the town that were discussed on the old boards. These are Old Town, New Town, Chinatown, and Greentown. Old Town will be an older area, dating from the first half of the 1900s, with historical buildings and the center of town. New Town will be a more modern area, including some apartments and clubs. Chinatown will be a smaller area with a primarily Chinese population. Please note that in terms of architecture, this area should have Chinese accents but look essentially western. In terms of decoration however, feel free to go wild. The idea here is that the original immigrant population probably weren't designing their own buildings. Greentown is an ecologically oriented community, built in the last twenty to thirty years. |

RE: Group Neighborhood Project (Sign-Ups Open!)
It's good to "see" you hear Sark. I have yet to get my family transferred here; I was awaiting your arrival. :danceegyptian: Yay, Sark has arrived! :bop:
It's a busy weekend so it might not be done by this weekend. I also will probably want to build some residential lots, and of course, more families. I'm thinking that if we have the time frame of by September, barring any unforeseen circumstances, I might actually be able to make some more stuff. :D I might like to upload some community lots. It all depends on what time allows. I am looking forward to adding more. I have one sim at Simlogical.com. You will find the rest of my creations here at CS3. Happy Simming!

I'll put you down as a sim maker for now, and assuming we keep the same basic world design, your family will definitely be brought in. |

RE: Group Neighborhood Project (Sign-Ups Open!)
I'm so glad you like!
I was also able to edit the family so that the members now have skill points. I hadn't done that before, and I cannot figure out why an adult sim can have no skill points when you make them in CAS, so I figured it would be nice to have all the adults in the fam having skill points!

RE: Group Neighborhood Project (Sign-Ups Open!)
I used Twallan's Master Controller mod found here: http://www.the-isz.com/nraas/index.php?topic=80.0 With it, you can edit all kinds of things about a sim. It is great. Well, Twallan is great! :bop:
I moved the family into a house and then was able to give them skill points with it. Then I was able to re-save the family in my library. I hadn't actually tried it before, and it works splendidly. You can also edit the relationships between the sims with this mod, so I also used it for that. It's quite a handy tool. I have one sim at Simlogical.com. RE: Group Neighborhood Project (Sign-Ups Open!)
Hi again Sark, I've uploaded another family for your project for Greentown here: http://customsims3.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=135
I can't remember how many simoleons they have, because I forgot to put in the mod that gives them more when making them a family and I gave them 50,000 after moving them into a neighborhood to edit them before uploading. They had I think over 16,000 before that, so they should have enough to move into a decent enough house in your world once it's been created. Hope you like!

(03-29-2011 12:03 PM)Sark Wrote: o.o How did you do that? Nraas mods are amazing! I have lots of them - Overwatch (which got rid of the lagging in my town by deleting 3000 cars that were stuck :twitch: ) Woohooer, Master Controller, Story Progression, and Careers. Anyways, this is a GREAT idea! I have a few questions though... Am I allowed to make both sims and homes? I'm good at both (Though I don't make houses as great as Razr's)... How much households/houses would be needed in this town? Would it be OK to use already made households? I have plenty that have interesting stories. Here's some pics of some houses I made: http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/ac133...ak/sim.jpg http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/ac133...k/sim3.jpg http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/ac133...k/sim2.jpg An attempt at making my real-life house... http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/ac133...k/sim1.jpg Some Sims that I made... http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/ac133...k/SIMs.jpg (It turned out like a sim collage, LOL) Thanks! I can't wait to see how this turns out! EDIT: Edited to add that it would be interesting if after the town's finished, we made a thread here at Custom Sims 3, and everyone that downloads and plays the town can post what's going on with their version of the town and the sims that came with it (with pics too!). |
