Help with a lot
I could really use some help with fixing this community lot from Showtime. Hopefully, someone is playing Showtime and can help me straighten out this community lot, Mick's Karaoke Club. It is a live venue club and I am having trouble getting the table markers placed right.
I edited the lot to fit better into my new hood, and now I can't get the tables and chairs to fit in the table markers right or get the table markers in the right place on the floor. I looked at the original club layout and did it exactly like it was shown, but something is wrong as the sims won't sit in the chairs and do their screaming act or the table disppears or one of the chairs or both when you play in live mode. This only happens when you go to the club for the Sim Fest. That is when they have the acts on stage. When the Sim goes there during regular hours and not sim fest, they can sit in the chairs okay. It is just during Sim Fest that it becomes a problem. I have replaced the table and chairs, moved them around, moved the markers around and still can't get it right. I have taken some pics, but need to edit the size before I can post them. I have even deleted the markers hoping they could just sit at the tables then, but that caused the Sim Fest sign to fall out of their cue when directed to go there. It seems Sim Fest won't work without those markers. I don't know what else to do. I had some problems with the park venue as well, but finally got the benches in the markers right where the sims would sit on them. Has anyone else tried to build either of these type lots that use the markers for benches and tables? Is there some trick to this? I am just at my wit's end with this. Blessings to you and yours.

RE: Help with a lot
I wish I could help you Judy. I haven't even bought Showtime yet. Maybe someone will come by that can help you get things straight.

RE: Help with a lot
Hmmm. That seems strange. I know that certain tables won't fit on the table spots. I'm sorry I haven't played around with it long enough to see. Upload some pictures then maybe I can help.

RE: Help with a lot
![]() I don't have this EP yet so I'm really sorry I can't help. In SHOWTIME you can actually have others visit your world? ![]() LOL! No really??? If so, there maybe a game bug where it appears fine in solo use but it does not work properly in group mod? I don't know.. it's just a thought....... |

I do not worry about it as I know that my lots revert to the way that I made them after the simport show and I go back to the lot the next time. Thanks for the input, Lee. I have decided to redo the whole lot again with the orignal tables left where they are. I did recolor them. I did not move the squares, so hopefully it will work. I am going to test it again before I redo all the outside. I did get the benches to work in the park show venue. You have to set the benches to the very back of the bench squares. I think you are right about their being some bugs in the new EP. :s (06-14-2012 03:58 PM)Rearea Wrote: Hmmm. That seems strange. I know that certain tables won't fit on the table spots. Thanks for your input, but I have decided to redo the lot with the original tables and not mess with any of the table squares. This lot is really buggy, so I don't know if that will even work. We shall see. Blessings to you and yours.

RE: Help with a lot
It still amazes me that a company with a franchise over 12 years old, still seems to constantly forget that the biggest appeal to this game it playing/creating your game your way. How in the world could ANY programmer, company or producer not know that players would want to customize the venues.

RE: Help with a lot
Well, you'd think, wouldn't ya?
I did go into this lot last night and found that to move almost anything that has to do with the venue and place it you have to have on the cheat "RestrictBuildBuyInBuildings" with testing cheats enabled. I have one sim at Simlogical.com. You will find the rest of my creations here at CS3. Happy Simming!

I wanted to place the lot on a larger lot and edit it to fit, so I had to use the cheat. I did not know there was even such a cheat to do so, but was glad to hear it. Now I can also edit another of the Showtime's live venue. Palm trees weren't exactly fitting into my hood where I set the lot.:D Thanks goodness for cheats.
Blessings to you and yours.

RE: Help with a lot
Yes, indeed; it's a pain, but very helpful. I had to figure that out to get rid of subways on the Late Night lots, since I didn't want them in one of my towns. It's sometimes difficult to find the correct cheat.

RE: Help with a lot
I hate to revive this old thread, but thought some might like to know what I finally decided with the Mick's Karaoke Club deliema.
I finally placed the original club and tested it. It seems when the live venue is showing, the tables are supposed to disappear, so that the crowd can stand in the table place holders. They stand whereever the place holders are. When the venue stops and the show is over, the stage props disappear off the stage. (I thought that was some kind of bug that the props did not stay on the stage.) The tables do not reappear until the sim visits again when the show is not going on. I hope this makes sense. I think it was stupid of EA to set it up this way. I hope others understand this when their sim goes to the club. This was the most frustrating lot I have ever remodeled. I guess I should have tested the original lot first. Thought other Showtime players might like this info in case they want to do their own remodel.
Blessings to you and yours.

RE: Help with a lot
Thanks for updating us. It is very good to know what is going on with the Showtime lots, so maybe we can get some custom ones made.

RE: Help with a lot
That is weird Judy. I'm really glad you posted it. I haven't messed around too much yet with the Showtime venues. I test played the new hood and let some sims attend some shows but they were at the park venue. I noticed that things looked different while that was going on but I didn't realize exactly what was happening. Now that you mention it, I think I vaguely remember the seats disappearing. I don't understand why that would work that way either.
I have other worlds that I play and haven't had time to put venues into them, let alone had time to test them all to see how they work after installing Showtime. Some of them lack space for new lots. I'll probably have to alter existing venues and/or build some. Going forward, I think this will be extremely helpful. Thanks so much for posting about it.
