RE: No More Sims For Me It Appears :(
My old 486 SX 66 Mhz - yea I'm talking about an OLD computer now LOL

This was the very last one I ever ran with an onboard vid chip and I hated it big time - I always had to run any of my graphic's programs or games on minimum settings because if not they taxed everything so severely. I also hated AMD for any of their products, I just always had rotten luck with their stuff and that's when I moved to .. dang I forgot the name they had then, this was before the merged with another company and became Nvidia. For the most part, I think I had only 1 vid card from Nvidia that didn't live up to the expectations that I had for it, all the others - including the GTX 570 I have not have gone beyond what I thought they'd do.

Good example is with Sims 3, before I downloaded that EVGA program to regulate my Vid Card Temp ( and you can regulate your FPS in game too ), I had no idea what I was getting and thought most of my problems were do to frame rate, but after I installed this and also moved the EVGA program display to my second monitor, I could see that while I was in Sims that I was getting 60 to 250+ FPS the whole time and that my hesitations were due to another issue ( which I have now come to believe it was because of all the custom content I had as well as changing that one line in the DEFAULT.INI file from 200 to 2000, this made a MAJOR difference and I was not have any problems after that.

Dang it I started rambling again LOL

RE: No More Sims For Me It Appears :(
Laughtingoutloud_32x32 It's funny, because different people have experienced different things with brands of graphic cards and such. My other computer that has a decent older NVidia graphic card was a pain for me to run the Sims3 on because I had to do all the work arounds on it to even run the game without it crashing to desktop on XP or W7 or blue screen on W7. Other than that, the game ran pretty smoothly on it. My new computer with AMD processor and ATI graphics has absolutely no problem running the game like that.

I know it are a fact also that with my game when having custom content installed, it lagged my game. A lot has to do with routing issues in worlds that I have tried to play, some EA and some user created. I am definitely going to change the INI file like you said, just need to remember to do it, so I don't mind you rambling, as it's a great reminder, and I've found as I get older that my brain gets too full and it's difficult to recall everything in there. :D

RE: No More Sims For Me It Appears :(
Well it looks like my game is DOWN again............

Well at least 1/2 down anyway.. I have been working on a new lot in the editor just fine but this morning when I went and tried to play my character, not 30 seconds after buying the house and as we zoom in on him - within 5 seconds POOF! Game Crash.......

Maybe I should just give up and go back to SimCity 2 or 3? :(

I don't remember now - since last week, how many times I've had to redownload the game and install it and follow those idiotic instructions from incompetent Tech Support People...

My new contact with Tech Support is by email and he's level 2, at least so far in the initial letter he sounds decent, I "HOPE!!!!!!!!!" he can help me fix this. I can't bang my head into any more walls in this room, all the walls are already full of holes from the past few days....

RE: No More Sims For Me It Appears :(
That really bites. Just so you know, been there, done that. After Ambitions was released, that's when I found out about the large address aware issue which was later fixed by a patch and the DEP settings. Still, on my older computer after the fix for the LAW, I had to reset the DEP settings for the base game and all EPs so it wouldn't crash to desktop while trying to play a house. It was weird, because I could go into build and CAS without it doing it, but as soon as I loaded a house and un-paused the game, it would crash. That was on my computer with the GTX graphic card from NVidea. I don't know if you've tried turning off DEP for your sims games, but it stopped the really bad random crashing for me and I only experienced one once in a while after applying that fix.

RE: No More Sims For Me It Appears :(
The tech's only said the base game, I didn't know about the others - I was gonna try to do something but since I still have my old copy of Windows on a HD that USED to be my C drive - I reinstalled it on a different drive ( I disconnected all but one drive, a 60 GB SSD that loads Windows really fast, and then once I had everything done I reconnected that other drive and renamed it backup temporarily because I didn't want to lose all I have on there. I just finished moving (copying) all that I wanted to save onto another different drive and I"m going to reformat that one, ::sigh:: and yes, I will have to download and reinstall Origin and the game all over again......

BUT I hope it works.

Also I"m going to delete any and all copies of my main character that I can find "just in case" there is something corrupt in his file that might be messing up everything. I can always remake him with no problem and maybe I should change his traits a little - make him STOP chasing every woman he sees! LOL.. No really, he does that if I leave him alone in town! LOL

RE: No More Sims For Me It Appears :(
Well so far so good. One thing that seems strange though is that this morning when I was trying the game to see if it happened in other cities I noticed that the launcher said the game version was:

11.0.84.016017

HUH?

Now after the fresh install ( for the 10th time since Saturday night ROFLOL! ) the launcher says the game version is:

1.34.27.016017

Uh.. ooooooookkkkkkkkkaaaaaaayyyyy?????????

I have no idea...
