TS3 EP06 Showtime cyclic Redundancy Check Error?
I just purchased The Sims 3 Showtime today and began installing it. I then kept getting this error: File: D:/GameData/Shared/Packages/FullBuild_p12.package Error: Data error (cyclic redundancy check). Naturally there were 2 options; Retry and Cancel. Naturally I chose retry, it helped tell the very end where all that is left is that package -_-'. So from there after the continuous looping of said error, I searched the interwebs, got a bunch of suggestions tried them (not uninstalling any ep). I found on MTS 2 fixes. I tried the first. Here's the link:

http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=418577

Apparently it is caused by programs related to the sims simultaneously downloading while installing. So the quick fix was to:

1: Open up the Launcher
2: Click Game Updates, and allow the game to update itself.
3: Click on EADM icon or go to start, Electronic Arts, Download Manager.
4: Check to make sure there are no more waiting updates, if there are, either cancel them, or allow the game to update (again)

I attempted this, but with no success, game was up to date already. So I go to the EADM which was updatable so I updated, checked that there were no more updates (there weren't). I then got the same error as above. I attempted to uninstall the EADM as that was another suggestion, which as you can guess didn't work.

The last option I can think of is to follow those steps on MTS where I uninstall everything sims 3 all games and such, but I REALLY don't want to do that.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Base Game, World Adventures, and Ambitions for various reasons and may have reached the maximum amount of installations these 3 sims games have to offer. (Darn EA and their anti-piracy precautions that only hinder players)

If you guys know of a solution, any at all I am willing to try, but if you guys think that uninstalling is the only way...I guess I may take my chances...:(

RE: cyclic Redundancy Check Error?
I am not sure if this will help.

I know there was an issue with patch 1.33, not updating all of the EP's to the correct version number. This caused issues with CAW. It could be that your game like mine was affected by this bug. I downloaded MTS TS3 Patch Downloader and ran it and it updated the ep's that were messed up without any problems. I can't help but wonder if this might be causing problems with your install too.

Also, this program does download from EA and installs with the EA installers, this is just a tool to bypass the launcher that seems to be buggy more often then not.

At that point, I would do a fresh re-install. Sometimes data within the game itself gets corrupted and that's the only way to fix it. That's just my 2 cents. :twocents:

Didn't work, it still does the same thing! EA tech support doesn't help at all either, problems, ugh...

RE: cyclic Redundancy Check Error?
Have you tried patching without the launcher? You can download the patches from Simsprograms at this link. Then you can install them without the launcher. It's just a thought; my launcher has caused many problems with my game.

Rofl It's good to keep your sense of humor in all this. I hope everything works out for you; many a time I've been at my wit's end wanting to bang my head into my desk with frustration with this game. I stopped using the launcher long ago for anything other than downloading and installing store content, patterns and worlds, because there are enough work-arounds for the other stuff, and I've had that launcher completely fail on patching my game at various times.

I haven't even installed any new patterns for a long time after they made it impossible to do so without the launcher. I figured I could live without them to avoid that terribly evil thing. ;) I didn't even update Origin the last time because it's not needed to dl and install stuff.

RE: cyclic Redundancy Check Error?
I finally got it to work! :D I just went to the store where I purchased it and exchanged it for another copy. It worked! I was told it couldn't be done this way :)
