RE: What movies(s) make you cry every time
Okay I posted this in another thread because we were putting our favorite books as children, and some are by C. S. Lewis:

("Shadowlands" (a movie about author C. S. Lewis), that is another movie that makes me cry every time (oh, I need to post that in the movies that make me cry thread). It stars Deborah Winger and Anthony Hopkins and is a heart warming and wrenching movie.)

C. S. Lewis did not marry until late in his life; it was a marriage of convenience, but the two actually wound up falling in love and then she got cancer. Oh, I almost start crying just thinking about it. You need a large box of tissue for this one!

The Best Years Of Our Lives

Black Beauty (1994)

It's a Dog's Life

All of these movie make me cry. Best Years of Our Lives was the first movie I ever saw that depicted the aftermath of War at home. It gets me every time. Black Beauty is a gorgeous period film and the horse is magnificant looking but what it goes through is incredible. Ditto for it's a Dog's Life -- when that dog is reunited after so many extreme ups and downs with its original trainer I just lose it. Tears are streaming down my face and I can barely breath because I'm bawling so hard. What happens to that Bull Terrier is at times shocking and its so sad in both of the animal films to see how much at the mercy of humans animals often are but how they persevere and overcome obstacles is really very moving and uplifting.

Ah, I know it's been a while, but, speaking of movies about war. I remember the mini-series film done for television, "The Holocaust". Talk about a tear jerker. That one had some of the best actors, and, of course, being about what Hitler did to all his prisoners. . .I don't need to say more.

I think that's the name of it. Robin Williams plays a man who's two children die in car crash, then he himself dies several years later, leaving his wife to so much sorrow she kills herself. He must travel into the depths of ***** to bring her back. Cuba Gooding Jr. plays his son.

Great, now I'm crying [Image: sad-smiley-8171.gif]

I love that movie , too.
As I remember it, His son takes on the form of a friend/Mentor to Williams
character (during and after college), whom he thought very highly of,
because (his son) knew his father would listen to him if he thought he was him.
This was represented by Cuba playing the part of the younger Mentor.
The thing you learn later ( If i remember correctly), is that the old man
that takes them to *****, via a boat, actually IS the Mentor Williams character knew.
I was also touched by the fact that His character had been so out of touch with his children when alive, that they felt the need to disguise
their identities in heaven, yet he proves his love for them by recognizing
each them, inspite of their efforts.

I don't usually watch tearjerkers :)
But, I have to admit The Time Traveler's Wife got to me.

Great, I have another one to add. I got to go out on Mother's Day weekend and watch "Soul Surfer". It is a new movie with Carrie Underwood in her first film debut. That movie even made my boyfriend cry. It's a true story about a girl, Bethany Hamilton, living in Hawaii that loses her arm to a shark attack while surfing and her amazing journey and struggle to overcome the odds and anguish of it all. It's truly a moving story and worth watching, very heart warming.

It also stars Dennis Quaid and Helen Hunt as Bethany's parents. It's a wonderful cast.

You just made me think of another one that makes you cry, "The Notebook", oh, you'll cry your eyes out! You think you won't, but when the time comes, you do.

OMG! I just saw that movie for the first time the other day on TV and I couldn't believe how great it was! Everyone said it was a great movie when it came out a couple of years ago but no one could really describe it and that title is big a snooze. But, oh my, the cast is terrific, the story is wildly romantic, and the writing is superb because you become so emotionally invested in all of the characters --even the supporting ones like the mother and fiance. It's just a roller coaster of emotion the whole way through but the ending was overwhelming. Nick Casavetes is as talented a director as his father John Cassavetes was. Also, I was amazed at how fantastic Gena Rowlands looked -- the woman was 74 when that film was made. Truly an ageless beauty.

HAHAHA. I would cry if I was a Cowboys fan too!! (Colts all the way).

Just about anything makes me cry... my lucky boyfriend. Recently I have watched Tangled a number of times and cry at various parts throughout that movie.

But the ones that get me everytime - Rudy, The Bright Side, a couple episodes of My So Called Life... 17 years later and that is still one of the best TV shows ever. and just about every Chick Flick out there makes me tear to some extent.

The Notebook - I am banned from watching it... my boyfriend teared... I bawled... and he hid it on me now. lol.

RE: What movies(s) make you cry every time
My all time favourite film is Dirty Dancing and I must have watched it 100 times. I still cry buckets at the end.
Something about the whole film just gets to me very deeply..and as I love to watch dancing - thats just a big bonus.
Slightly off topic, I read a book recently called A Crack in Forever by Jeannie Brewer and it had me in FLOODS of tears - quite embarrassing since I was reading it on the bus into work!!

RE: What movies(s) make you cry every time
The one movie that makes me cry every single time I watch it is an oldie. "Somewhere In Time" with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymore. I get the ugly cry thing going watching, even though I can just about quote the movie script.

RE: What movies(s) make you cry every time
- Marley and Me (The end... :( )
- Barbie and a Christmas Carol (I don't know why.. I think it was when the orphans were gone and I was like 'NO.')
- Star Trek (The very beginning when James's father dies and the father is talking to his mom when he dies. I don't know why.) ((And I'm sorry if that's a specific movie, my Dad just calls it Star Trek.))
- Black Beauty.. (That was just a plain sad movie.)
- Marmaduke (whenever the Dad tells him to sleep outside in the rain.)

I'm usually not the crier, my Mom is. My mom cried at the Folger Commercial when the girls brother came back from the army.

Most of the time I cry about when animals get hurt, not really the people.

That sounds a lot like my daughter; it always upset her in movies when animals were hurt.

RE: What movies(s) make you cry every time
Walt Disneys - Lion King II - Simbas Pride
Especially when Simba sings "We are one". So many familys are destroyed due to divorce or other circumstances, it's always very emotional. Especially the irony, cos he sings "we are one", yet they are discriminating the outlanders. Always have to cry at the end of the movie aswell, when the family finally gets reunited. He lives in you makes me cry aswell. "There's no mountain too great, hear the words and have faith" - there can be so much misery in ones life, but hope dies last. Having faith and carrying on instead of giving up can actually change things.

Disney movies in general seem to make me burst into tears sooner or later.

Ridley Scott's Gladiator, when he arrives home and sees his family slaughtered and when he dies himself in the end. Am actually happy for them to be reunited in afterlife, but the music and everything let's me cry every single time I watch this film.

Coming back to where you've started is not the same as never leaving. Terry Pratchett
current project, my motivator
