Hope this is the right forum. I am having a problem with the Custard Program and my worlds.
I am getting this error when I try to check my Custom World with Custard. "The 'LocalizedDescription' start tag on line 75 does not match the end tag of 'LocalizedName'. Line 75, position 68." I have used Custard to check my worlds for any CC that try to hitch a ride on the file for a good while. It has always worked fine. The last time that I tried to check the file, it opened the file, I unchecked the hitch hikers, and then hit save. It was then that I got this error message. After that, I tried Custard on some previous world files and it would not open them at all, but that same error message came up. I keep my world files in my documents, not in the game files by the way. It is opening my lots fine and all seems well with them and the program. It is just the worlds that I am having a problem with. Anyone else heard of this error or have had a problem with it? Any help would be appreciated.:D Blessings to you and yours.

RE: Custard Program
I was reading something the other day about Custard having problems occasionally since it hasn't been updated for the latest expansion packs. I don't know if what you're experiencing has anything to do with that or not but did you read the discussion thread for where the download is? It's possible an answer to your question could be there.

RE: Custard Program
I have found you cannot uncheck any extra files attached to your world with custard. You have to re-export after you delete all the files in your DCbackup file. Stuff from there will piggyback onto your world file when you export.

The problem with deleting all the files in my backup is then my CC doen't package with my lots that I submit. I just went through that. Can I just move the backup file out of the EA folder before I export the world? Or I guess I could just copy the files and put them back after I export. Let me get this straight. Delete or copy my dcbackup files in the EA file before I export my world again. Then check with Custard? So I can check the world with Custard after I have done this? I have checked my worlds (Pandora) before with Custard and it has shown me any extra CC in the world and did not error. Why now do you think? I was not deleting my dcbackup files then either. And I was able to uncheck the items that were attached and then check the world (Pandora) to see if it was clean and it was. I just don't understand why it is throwing this error now. Oh, I forgot. I checked Riverside with the world and it worked fine. It was just the custom worlds that errored. I have a world that I play and it would not open it either. I don't get it. Blessings to you and yours.

RE: Custard Program
Judy, just move your DCBackup directory out of the game when you do that, then move it back in when you're finished. That way you still have the backup files for your lots. :)

RE: Custard Program
I have actually checked the .sims3packs of world files with Custard, it worked for me up through I guess Ambitions worlds...I don't know about further than that since I haven't checked any worlds since.

It has worked for me through Late Night and all the EPs, but suddenly errored. Delphy is going to check it out and see what is going on. I will keep you all updated on it. Blessings to you and yours.

RE: Custard Program
It's good that you checked with Delphy about it. A lot of us rely on that program to check for CC!
The only thing different that I have noticed in using it (different that how it used to work) is that if I uncheck CC items it will take them out of the world, but I cannot re-check the world file with CUSTARD after that, it refused to "open" it again. The Sims3pack will still install on the PC, I just can't check it again to make sure there isn't any additional CC items attached. I don't recall ever getting that error, though, although to be honest I don't remember what message pops up. I'm pretty sure you don't need the DCBackup files at all. You need your DCCache folder for sure; deleting that will delete all of your CC and store items. But the DCBackup just contains duplicate files. I empty mine out regularly; CC can camp onto your files even after you delete it from your game, and it's because it is coming from that folder. Which I'm pretty sure is what Auntielynds was saying. :-) |

Quote:But the DCBackup just contains duplicate files. I empty mine out regularly I do that too, but in Judy's case she needs to leave those files in place because some of the lots she uploads contains CC that she wants packaged with the lots. If the DCBackup directory is emptied, the game won't attach the files needed. BogSims Institute, where you won't find much, but what you do find may be useful. |

I will tell you, though, that I vastly prefer my CC in package format and would rather creators link me to the stuff or provide it separately so that I can take it out when a new EP or SP comes out. Since you never know what EA will bork (they've even broken some of their own store content on occasion), I feel like this is the safest route to go. And if I voluntarily put it in my game beforehand it should still show up on any creator's lot who used it, I believe? |

RE: Custard Program
I know what you mean, I also prefer .package content (including lots) but in this case these lots are uploaded to a different site that houses the CC in those lots, and the version she uploads here are CC free.
Remember the little doll with the borked coding that attached itself to everything, even though it wasn't supposed to be there? It was passed along because of the DCBackup directory. Once it was removed from there, it could no longer tag along. Quote:And if I voluntarily put it in my game beforehand it should still show up on any creator's lot who used it, I believe? Unless you take a piece of CC that was formerly in a Sims3Pack and extract it to .package format then put it in your game. In that case it's basically turned into a different item, and if the Sims3Pack version was used on a lot the game won't read the .package file as a replacement. At one point I was going to extract my store content and use it as .package files then I read about that so decided that I'll keep my store content in Sims3Pack format because that way I can take advantage of other people using the freebies in their creations and when I use the freebies in my builds and share them I know they'll show up right for most other people as well. I don't have a lot of store content, mostly the freebies then a couple of sets and a few odds and ends. BogSims Institute, where you won't find much, but what you do find may be useful. |
