RE: DIY Caw Files from various simmers!!
You should be able to go in and change the roads to dirt roads. Well you would have to lay all the roads again as dirt roads. But that would help with the type of world you want. I dont suggest removing the roads as that may cause bigger pains in the head later.

I would do it for you but I honestly dont have time. I deleted my CAW tool and my mind set is I am done with it! Today was the first time in over a month I actually loaded the game to play, and that lasted a whole 20 mins before I remembered I had to vaccum the pool and what nots. As much as I love summer, I hate it quite a bit too. There is always something to do, taking care of the pool, the grass, the flowers, the kids messes..............I like winter where being lazy is some what acceptable!

There are tutorials on this site that will help you with getting CAW to work. Have you tried that? Once you can get CAW to work, the world is your oyster.....along with the CAW files we provide here lol! Best of luck to you!

Ok Aynat, thank you :D Yeah, I agree, winter is awesome in the laziness department :) Of course, I'm forever trying to get the CAW tool to work but it seems that the problem is with EA, some update that they haven't released yet or something. I was just very impatient to have a world to play in but I guess I can wait until EA fixes it :D That way the world would be my baby lol. Have a great day!

RE: DIY Caw Files from various simmers!!
Chloe, someone pointed me to a work-around for that the other day so I posted the information and link to more information in this thread. Yes, EA really messed it up this time. Of course like SimSample said on the official forum, it is a beta tool and EA doesn't promise to support it. A Guru did post that another patch is in the works, though, and from what I've heard this one should make EIG work again. I don't recall how long it took them to fix it after WA was released but it was a considerable amount of time before they had an updated version available. After that until now they released a new version in fairly short order.

Can you make Sunhaven as an empty world? Please.

How do you mean by empty world? If you just want the lots cleaned you could bulldoze them free from buildings in game. :P

Nevermind my previous comment. I was a bit sleepy. Had no idea why I was writing (facepalm)
But, I can't bulldoze the graveyard. I turned lot locking off and it still didn't let me.

RE: DIY Caw Files from various simmers!!
Hello, I downloaded South Greensburgh and spent 3 hours in CAW. The only thing I did was get the lots ready and changed some of the routing, but when I go to play it starts to load then crashes my gameCrying_32x32. Any advice on what might be happening? I would appreciate and help. Thank You.

Hi Spacey. Did you rebuild the routing data after you added lots? Also try checking lot placement to make sure they aren't over roads. I don't know if that will help but it's two possibilities I can think of.

Ok this is going to sound really stupid, but rebuild the routing data,:what:, I just started using CAW so I'm not really sure. I did check the lot placement numerous times. I just want to cry, I love this map.

There just aren't many questions when it comes to using CAW that are even remotely stupid because that is one pain in the rear program. The only thing that drives me over the brink is when someone tries it for five minutes then starts yelling, "I CAN'TTTTT!!!!" Laughtingoutloud_32x32

Click on View then go to the very bottom option, "Rebuild Routing Data". Also, check this thread for links to some really useful information and tutorials. :)

I'm the type of person that will bang my head on the table for months trying to figure something out before yelling (something a little more vulgarAngel_32x32) thank you for the routing info. What I ended up doing last night was going in and deleting all my files, then re-downloaded South Greensburgh and did it all over again. ONE SECTION AT A TIME !!!! I'd finish one then load it to make sure it worked then went back in to do the next section, there are 7 sections in my world. Needless to say I didn't sleep and my 10 year old thinks I'm crazy, since I was in the same spot when he got up as when he went to bed.Roflol Can you say Stubborn A**. Well I don't know what I did different but when everything was done I was able to play, it loaded smoothly and I moved in the neighbors. You know I had a life before the Sims!Laughtingoutloud_32x32 Thank You again, thats one thing I love about the Sims community, everyone is so helpful and nice.

RE: DIY Caw Files from various simmers!!
Your method sounds a LOT like mine. When I started with CAW it hadn't been out for all that long and there really wasn't much in the way of tutorials and for me the figuring stuff out is as much a part of the adventure as building. It also sticks better in my mind when I make mistakes and have to redo stuff. I used to do that whole not sleeping thing with video games and I can't any more. I have to make sure I turn everything off no later than 11 so I can sleep. Otherwise I'll be puzzling away on whatever it is all night long and am a wreck the next day. I miss all nighters and all that fun stuff!

I'm glad it worked this time around! :wtg:

RE: DIY Caw Files from various simmers!!
Lately I think I'm having more fun with CAW then playing. I love to create and since I'm not working right now this is good for my energy, but I have realized that I'm am just too old for all nighters anymore. I was just useless today, thank god I got my housework done before I sat at the computer. Well back to my world and get a few things finished before bed. Thanx.

RE: DIY Caw Files from various simmers!!
I am just wondering about the height map thing. If I download 2 mile island, build houses and such in EIG ~ will I have to create a height map, and if I do could someone point me to a tutorial thanks :)

EDIT: I also meant to ask, What are the TOU in relation to taking these into CAW -- editing them, building your own houses and lots, exporting and uploading to my blog with full credit given to the creator on the download post and in a credit list included in the zip file? & I miss all nighters too, I used to be able to stay up all night and function perfectly well the next day, now I can't even make it to 4am before I fall asleep with my head on the keyboard. I do remember the last time that I fell asleep at the computer, I had a dent in my forehead the entire day >.<
