The Sims 3 Base Build Town I AND II are at BogSims
Build Town II: As I used it I realized that I didn't have the lots fixed so they were facing the street. This was making it very difficult to work on lots so I've fixed that. That is the only difference between these versions and Build Town II V.2 can be installed alongside Build Town II.

Build Town I: I have also reuploaded a new version of the original Build Town. The textures have been redone so not only is the brown yuck gone but they look slightly better. The lots are also now facing the roads. You will need to UNINSTALL the original version for this one to work.

Sims 3 Icon Build Town was originally created for a quick-to-load, easy-to-use map for building projects. When Ambitions released some of the textures in the original version turned an icky brown for some people. By that time it had been getting recommended as a small town for playing and after using it for a while I also realized that it could use some improvements so I set out to make Build Town II. (This is a separate world from the original Build Town so if you wish, you can have both in your game at the same time.)

Bear in mind, this town was designed first and foremost with building in mind. It was never meant to be a pinnacle of beauty, but have enough background to provide decent settings for taking screenshots.

You will probably notice each lot has markings on it. One thing I found very difficult in the first version was trying to find the lot size I needed for a building project so this go-round I painted sizes on the terrain. The markings WILL NOT transfer with the lot to another town. There is also considerably more area available for custom-sized lots than the original version had.

Since often building involves quite a bit of testing, I also added most of the spawners from the base game. I believe the only ones it doesn't have are spawners for cockroaches and moths, but if a person really wants to play they can easily put those on lots.

RE: Build Town I AND II are at BogSims
I've done some updating to both versions of Build Town and have uploaded both of them to BogSims. I edited my first post to explain the changes. :)

Regina, you will probably have to rename your worlds and remove that naughty period from the name. I built a lot in build town II v.2 and after saving it won't let me back in says that the world was created with Expansions no longer on this system.

I even tried renaming the world files (and the object and sim files for the world) that the game saved, but I may also have to clear my cache files. If that doesn't work I've lost the house I was working on :(

Ah shoot, Simbody, I didn't even think of that! I'll try to take care of that tomorrow after I can get the new version of CAW downloaded and installed. I'm so sorry!

No worries on the lot, I can easily recreate it I did take a few pictures of it and remember relatively well how I had the interior laid out. I could have sworn renaming the files was all it would take to get it to work, but I must have missed one somewhere. I'll hang onto it for a bit and see if I can't at least open it to export that lot!

One rule Kate has always had for files since the TS2 days was to never ever use a period in a file name. My college has the same guideline. It will almost always cause you trouble :) Hopefully few others will have the same issues and can grab the updated files before they start building away.

I'm glad at least you have some pictures for reference! I actually knew better than using the dot and I was just not thinking, more taken with the thought of getting it done--I know better than trying to hurry these things. :P

RE: Build Town I AND II are at BogSims
So Regina, I can uninstall the Build Town 1 that ghost posted for me, and put in this one and all those old saves I found will work? I want to be sure as I found some nice lots I really want to keep.

No, Sookielee, the old saves won't work. If you want the new version of the first one you'll have to save those lots to your bin, uninstall the original version, then install the new one. What I would do is put everything in my Library folder into a sub-folder, go into the game and load up all the original Build Town saves and put each house into the bin, dozing the lots in the saves as I went so I didn't miss anything. Then move those saves to somewhere else just in case you ever need them again. Then uninstall the original Build Town, install the new one, go back in game and replace the lots in the new version, deleting them from the bin as I went. Then move everything that was formerly in the Library bin back. Geez, do I make things complicated or what?

RE: Build Town I AND II are at BogSims
Now I am really glad I asked first. Oh well guess I will deal with the mucky brown for a bit for the 2 saves I have right now. I really need to get my backside in gear and get these houses finished and posted. I just have so many it is overwhelming as to where to start Laughtingoutloud_32x32

RE: Build Town I AND II are at BogSims
I'm glad you asked first too! If there's ever any doubt in my mind about the saves I move them to a safe place before I uninstall a world. That way I have them just in case.

I also know all too well overwhelming. Maybe you could just load a map, close your eyes and land the mouse on one and go from there? :D
