Thanks to Rflong telling me how, I converted some TS2 floors to TS3 patterns. They're one channel only, so if you recolour them pink say, the whole tile is going to turn pink not just a single section.
I am not all that familiar with the pattern tool yet so making multi channel is a little beyond me until I learn. I also think I went a little overboard with the specular on the maple wood floor pattern. It doesn't look that bad, just a little bit pale from some angles. I also converted one Rflong had already done. I thought I was missing a piece, so went and converted it, and then realised it was the same one she had already done, but I left it in the pack anyway. I've included both sims 3 pack and .package in the rar- HOWEVER !! - some people report problems when using patterns created with EA's pattern tool that have been extracted to package. Such as never ending loading times in Create a Style and such. I tested it in my own game after extracting the patterns, and I had no issues, but please consider yourself warned, and if you choose to use the .package format, and experience a never ending load, just remove the offending .package file and use the sims 3 pack version if you want to. Some pictures of the patterns I converted and how they look on a sims 3 floor ( we wont mention my crooked screenshot, we'll just take that as a given - ALL my screens are usually crooked *sigh* ) Edit - I have no idea how they look on clothing or anything ( Lol ) but I did test the maple wood floor on a kitchen cabinet, and it actually looked quite nice ! |

RE: TS2 Floor Tiles as Patterns
Very nice! I've never used the official pattern creator tool, just used Delphy's pattern tool and PSP to make multi-colored channels. Most of these would be really easy to fix up with multiple channels since there would only be two or three channels each.
I just realized how long it's been since I made any patterns and I kind of miss it! BogSims Institute, where you won't find much, but what you do find may be useful. |

RE: TS2 Floor Tiles as Patterns
I've not made any at all before, but if you want the textures and possibly feel like making them multi channel, I'll upload the textures for you Regina :) I just extracted them and patterned them up because I always liked these default styles but being able to recolour parts of them would be nice.

RE: TS2 Floor Tiles as Patterns
Sure, Pary, upload them and I'll try to fix them up sometime next week. :)

RE: TS2 Floor Tiles as Patterns
I'll just upload them here then, that way anyone who wants them can take them too. Included are PNG's of all the tiles I'd planned on converting, as well as the ones already done here.
Not sure how useful some of them will be... there was never anything like CAST for sims 2 so some of the patterns might be better off as singular channel, I don't know. Maybe someone with more experience than me will have better luck :) |

RE: TS2 Floor Tiles as Patterns
Thanks for learning how to do this Pary. I have only gotten as far as downloading CaP, I haven't even installed it.

RE: TS2 Floor Tiles as Patterns
Thank you, Pary! I'll see if I can spend some time on them (will have to reaquaint myself with pattern-making as it's been a while), and if someone beats me to it my feelings won't be hurt either. :D I've thought about learning how to use the official tool but have never got around to it.

RE: TS2 Floor Tiles as Patterns
The official tool is very intuitive. You just need to remember that the room icon shows the preview room and the edit icon goes back to the edit mode. (And don't place things by sliding them, just type coordinates for them. For some reason the 0 spot is at the center of the screen. This does help you figure out how well it tiles, but is a pain for placement.)
And you can add a new stencil that is 256x256, then use it as a full layer, but that's already been covered in another thread. |

Have these been made multi-channel yet? I extract all of my Sims3pack files; however, patterns made using the tool bork and can't be used in the game so....if I have to use the .sims3pack file, I only want to use it if the patterns can be recolored. All the same, thanks for converting - I can't do it! |
