Daycares
I saw a job for a day care provider or something like that. Does anyone know anything about that profession? I looked for a day care rabbit hole, but did not see one. Do you build your own or where does this person go to work? And can you take your kid to one?

Also, can you not hire a babysitter to come every day without calling? In Sims 2, they would come everyday you worked. It is the pits if you have to call everyday for a babysitter.
Thanks:MrGreen:

RE: Daycares
When you chose the daycare profession the parents bring their kids to your own house and you look after them there so you need to provide play equipment, potties etc. The parents drop them off before work and collect them afterwards.
When you first start you get a couple of toddlers usually and as you progress through the career scales you get more and more kids. Its hard work lol (Like the real thing!)
I never got very far because I had some kind of bug and my kids kept dying which put me off but I've read about other people who ended up with a half dozen toddlers and kids to look after. Unfortunately you can't take your own kids to a daycare centre.
AS for the babysitter, the only way you can get a babysitter to come every day is to use a mod. I use one from ModtheSims made by RainbowBrite. Its called 24hrbabysitting or something similar and it does what it says on the tin! You call once and you get babysitting services 24hrs a day until you cancel it. I use it all the time and havent had any problems with it.

Hmm...not a very appealing profession.Laughtingoutloud_32x32 But it might be a fun lot to build. Thanks for the info on the mod. I think I will get that as I don't want to hire a butler because I don't have a spare bedroom in some houses. Thanks for answering.Sunshine

RE: Daycares
Another note, because I find it annoying to have to have my sim call every time he/she wants to leave the house for the babysitter, I found that if I tell my sim to leave the house, when he/she does, that babysitter comes automatically. A pop-up asks you if you want the babysitter to come or your sim stay at the house, so I just tell it to have the babysitter come, and it's so much faster than waiting for them to show up after you call them. There's no waiting, your sim can leave immediately and the babysitter comes to the house. Sunshine

RE: Daycares
I also miss the nanny from Sims 2 even though I HATED that nanny. My solution for that in TS2 and in TS3 now is - I created a Nanny family - 3 elder ladies. Put them in a house called.. The Nanny house. Everytime a family in the hood has a baby, I have one of them move in with the family (unless mom or dad is self employed). I have her do a self employed job like writer or painter... have her skill up while there, take care of the kid, do the cooking and cleaning and once the kid ages up to teen I move her back to the Nanny house. Always rotate out the nannies and make sure one of them always lives in the Nanny house so you don't lose it.

Good plan, I might have to try that. It sounds great. Sunshine

RE: Daycares
Lisfyre, like others said, great idea and I might have to be making me one of those Nannie Houses. I love the fact that they can skill up and by having that lot you get to keep them for the next family.

RE: Daycares
That is an excellent idea! I often move in another sim for a nanny for my sims' kids; I hadn't thought about keeping them on call like that. I love it. Thanks! Sunshine The elder lady sim I made for the Population Project will probably be one of the sims I do that with. She'd be perfect.
