Installing LN and Generations after Pets?
I have no clue about this, but I am sure one of the many greats here will. I currently have Pets as my latest EP and I am going tonight to buy both LateNight and Generations ($20 a piece). I need to know what I should do to get LN and Gen installed. I do know to uninstall CC and Mods.

Do I need to remove Pets or install with Pets still there? I know with previous iterations of The Sims you had to install in order of release no matter what. I am not sure if this is the same with TS3 due to the patching and my game is up to date.

It was only Sims 1 where it was courting disaster to install out of sequence. In Sims 2, most people had no trouble with it. (Although it was still something to consider trying if your game went weird.) IIRC Sims 3 was also designed to allow you to install in any order.

RE: Installing LN and Generations after Pets?
I thought so. So I just need to remove my mods folder, delete my cache files and reload the game before I install, like I normally would. SO Cool. The Simmer in me is beyond excited. I am not getting 1 EP, but 2, and the Frugal monster in me is excited about $20 a piece for EP's. I swear I am bouncing off the walls here.

I know you could get some weird things happening with TS2 by installing out of order. I learned this the hard way.

RE: Installing LN and Generations after Pets?
Lol, I'm a little surprised that you're getting LN too, but the instruments, clothing, venue options, and additional functionality ARE really nice. Since you got them so cheap, that's pretty cool. I love the Gen stuff and I really enjoy LN just for the stuff it adds that I can then do inside my own game.
I don't play with Bridgeport at all, really, but I have instruments in so many houses, dart boards in game rooms, shuffle boards everywhere they fit, and there's even a local watering hole that EA made for Appaloosa Plains...even if it IS too small, it still is cool to me that they're finally incorporating all of the STUFF out there that they added in other EPs or patches...they don't show if you don't have that EP, but if you do, then you get custom lots added to the new worlds and I think that's pretty cool.
I was so happy to see them add fountain tool stuff to AP lots and things, like they've finally started to realize that THEY can use their OWN tools on the new stuff too.

RE: Installing LN and Generations after Pets?
At By 1Get 1 free, I could not resist getting Late Night. I actually paid $39.99 for Generations and Late Night was free. I have been loving some of the sims I have seen in the population project that required LN, and the many things you listed will be nice to have in my game. I do however plan on suppressing the Vampires as much as possible with twallens help. I even have his SP mod now too, so that will help with the everyone being a celeb issue I read about. I figure with MC, Overwatch and SP mods things will be good once I learn where to go within them to get the results I want. Nothing wrong with doing a little reading at NRAAS.

Yea, you can completely suppress Celebrities with SP and then after that, you can add or remove celeb stars with MC. It's handy to have the tools for the job lol.
I don't mind having a few celebs in town, just for color, but I like to be the one to CHOOSE who is and who isn't.

I'm the same with vampires. I don't mind having 1 or 2 in town if I can choose who and they can't make other sims vamps without my permission.
Although, in Riverview, Hunter Cottoneye was made a vamp by the game's SP and I thought that was hilarious. (Hunter Cottoneye is the neurotic, loner, angler, insane, mean spirited guy living in the foundation bunker lot out on the edge of town.) He moved to Appaloosa Plains as a vampire. I built him a new underground bunker for AP and everything. I gave him a dog.

One of the few times I've agreed with the SP's choices for my game lol.

Be aware though, if you start a new town and add a bunch of sims, Twallan's SP goes kind of nuts the first day or 2 giving ALL sims not in your household careers and things unless you disable that part of it lol.

RE: Installing LN and Generations after Pets?
I kinda found out about the giving of Careers thing. I played my Alphabet Genetics legacy all day the first time SP was running and boy there were numerous townies getting hired. I can only imagine how bad that must be in larger towns as I was playing in AP.

RE: Installing LN and Generations after Pets?
Well, and it depends on how many have jobs to begin with lol.
I've been building my OWN AP, and had just populated my town with a bunch of townies from my bin.
The SP went NUTS and gave ALL of them jobs and tied them into relationships and things, it was crazy haha.

RE: Installing LN and Generations after Pets?
I removed my mod folder and deleted all 4 cache files, loaded the game to allow it to recreate the deleted files. I then installed both Late Night and Generations. I have not actually play yet, I spent several hours this morning going through all the Bridgeport lots. (gotta love total annihilation) I am so excited about just starting on the creation of a 3rd generation in my Alphabet-Genetics challenge with all the new stuff.

When I loaded Bridgeport, twallen's SP threw at least 25 messages for job placements alone. I just laughed. Once I have a chance to play for a few days, I will probably get started on creating a new Mansfield World, with all the EP's.

RE: Installing LN and Generations after Pets?
Yea, I started a story household for fun at The Sims Daily, I've been hanging out over there when things are slow here, and they're all very into decorating and stories. It was some of the Living Sims regulars that wanted a less rigorous place to share decorating and things, because as wonderful as LS is, they ARE a magazine, so it is very much for the honed designer most of the time.

I've been rebuilding Appaloosa Plains up for Jamie & Co. and adding tons of other families in, so lots of people are going in untied. The SP has been going kind of crazy.
