I'm so glad to hear someone else is having this problem. I thought it was just me or my computer or something. It is very annoying.

I like the sunny weather all the time, but I agree. If they do weather right, then it will be fun. But no raking leaves and stuff. It is like the peeing. Really, I don't want my sims spending all their time on menial tasks like these.Laughtingoutloud_32x32

Oh, it was quite horrible before they fixed it a while back (I don't remember which patch), but, ya, it's back, and it drives me absolutely nuts!

It is nice to have sunny weather for the sims so you don't have to worry about sending them out at any time, but the seasons for me were so cool for TS2. I had a mod in my game to make a season last 7 days instead of 5, so it made more sense to my brain, that a season lasted a whole week, and, maybe because I like all the different seasons in real life, it made the game so much more enjoyable for me, but not without mods. In this regard TS3 is the same as TS2; without the wonderful modding community, I'd probably never play the game.

There have been some weird things with Pets, but I'd say it's the best EP so far too. Again, without mods, it might not be enjoyable. I found a mod that makes it so your larger pets don't lose their motive bars so fast. That way, if I forget the pet exists in the family for a little time, it doesn't get so lonely that the social worker takes it away. I don't understand that, because all the other bars can be green, but the social bar will empty and the social worker pop-up will occur for that pet. That mod is working absolutely wonderfully. I do like the pets, but sometimes, my sims get a bit too busy to spend every few minutes filling the social needs of the dog.

RE: Seasons or Weather?
Personally I agree that Pets is the EP that they put the most thought and effort into. It has a ton of adorable interactions between pets and the sims. The only problem is that every time I see one I can't help but wonder why sims have such wonderful interactions with their pets but very few cute ones with their own spouses or children. ???

Back on topic, though, I had really mixed feelings about Weather in the Sims 2. First there were all the 'dangerous' affects like heat stroke that I had to mod out (but honestly there was a TON of silly and extremely annoying stuff that I modded out in the Sims 2 in general, haha, and I had the weather controller so if a thunderstorm turned vicious I would just make it go away), but every time it turned to winter and that silent wind started to blow, my laptop would lag. I finally just eliminated the winter season in all of my towns so that I wouldn't have to deal with it; that was one good thing, in the Sims 2 you could select which seasons you wanted for each world. That whole aspect of being able to customize some things in Sims 2 is sorely lacking in Sims 3 so far. I would really prefer to be able to customize EVERYTHING but that's a different topic. :cheesy:

And I am another who is very skeptical that they will ever be able to implement weather in the Sims 3. They already have a few weather effects available on a limited basis, and I am extremely doubtful that even my beefy PC could handle weather effects happening all over a large sized world map without wigging out. There are lots of other little signs that we might not get a weather EP. One is the orange ground cover meant to mimic leaves. Actually a bigger clue is the fact that AP is meant to LOOK like fall. Why give us a world that looks like autumn if we were going to get the real thing?

I don't know if I would even consider buying Sims 4 unless they significantly improve upon what they've offered us in Sims 3.

RE: Seasons or Weather?
Weather in The Sims 2 was lacking in quite a few ways. I mean I was excited to have my simmies be farmers, I made a farm that had about 20 plots and 6 trees. Didn't seem like it was a bad idea at the time. My single sim started planting tomatoes, and than a few hours later, it happened. The trees needed tending. No big deal, I tended the trees. Suddenly, the crops needed tending, tend those for a few sim hours. Watering time! few hours later. More tree tending, crops and trees need to be sprayed. water again, this time my sim NEVER stops watering the crops EVER. God, when winter came was SO happy my sim could take a break from his 23 hr a day of gardening. But by this time it was already too late. He was too near elder-hood for me to even WANT him to marry. (I dislike huge age differences in the sims)

This expansion seemed like a great thing, but at the end-of-the-day it wasted my sims' entire adulthood. I am sure most people thought that seasons was going to be an amazing expansion pack. But the thing that killed it for me? Gardening! Farms= dead sims! remember that! I did, however enjoy the seasons themselves except I ignored all the leaves in autumn, so I really don't know how long it takes, but with a farm the sim would die in under 4 days' time

RE: Seasons or Weather?
Stripes you reminded me of the time I tried to kill off an elder couple in my TS2 game. :giggle: I had played them for so long I was beyond ready for them to move on, so I put them outside in winter without coats hoping they would freeze to death. I kept this up for well over a sim week and they never did die., at least not from weather. I was so bummed that they did not add death by elements to the game.

RE: Seasons or Weather?
Well, all you would have had to do to them, Sookielee, was have several trees in their yard in the fall and start them raking; then they would have starved to death while they raked the leaves. That's what happened to a sim in a hood I was playing before I realized that the trees made too many leaves and that I needed a mod to stop sims from autonomously raking them, especially when visiting other sims' houses. I went back to the house he lived in to play it, not realizing he had raked himself to death, and the wife had the memory of her husband being dead, then I had to think of what might have happened to him, and then I remembered the last time I saw him, he was raking the leaves at the neighbors' house while I was controlling that household, so, sure enough, I went back to that house and found his tombstone in the yard by a pile of leaves he had raked. RE: Seasons or Weather?
I would love to see seasons come back to the sims3 cause the snow was awesome and love when it was a blizzard outside and when it rain your sims get wet and you can see the rain drops.

RE: Seasons or Weather?
You know, I really liked Seasons in TS2, but I had a lot of mods to get out the annoyances from it, of course I had mods to take most annoyances out of the game, just like with TS3. There are mods I won't play without. But as much as I liked Seasons, I can see with TS3 that it could cause problems with the way the town is open. There are so many worlds that lag due to routing issues and such. I wonder what the game would act like while it tried to load a different season and the rain and snow.

RE: Seasons or Weather?
I loved Seasons in Sims2, but I don't know how the computers will handle such a strain on the game. We have enough bugs and routing issues as it is. After installing Showtime, I seem to experiencing more bugs and stuff. I did love the snow and rain though.

Blessings to you and yours. Flower_32x32

RE: Seasons or Weather?
It could be a big drain, even with the game loading only one chunk at a time. One chunk is pretty large and can already have a lot of stuff in it.

BogSims Institute, where you won't find much, but what you do find may be useful.
