CS3 January Foundation Challenge
CUSTOM SIMS 3 FOUNDATION CHALLENGE

This challenge is inspired by the Foundation Challenge held at MTS in the summer of 2010 that Hysterical Paroxysm ran. I give her and MTS full credit for the idea.

For the first CS3 Foundation Challenge here is a picture of what you are working with.

You have until Midnight (eastern US) on January 7, 2012 to sign up. You have until Midnight January 21, 2012 to post your pictures of your entry. Now onto the rules.

Your lot MUST include: These are the minimum requirements, you may include more if you like.
Kitchen
Living Room
1 Bedroom – minimum
1 bathroom with all fixtures

Download the attached foundation in either the package or sims3pack format and place on a 30x30 lot. The big red arrow should be pointing towards the street. You may remove the floor tiles used to create the arrow, but leave the foundation intact.

You MUST build within the foundation, no adding or subtracting from it. No Basements allowed as they would alter the footprint of the foundation. Your house can be as many stories high as you like.

You may not attach anything to the foundation (except stairs Giggle ). This includes garages or extra rooms etcetera.

PLEASE NOTE THIS ADDED RULE
You MAY extend the floor tiles 2 grid spaces from the original foundation on the second floor and above. This is the same as what the game allows without using columns.

You do not have to cover the entire foundation with walls, so you can have certain areas as patios, porches or what ever.

Building cheats like MoveObjects and ConstrainFloorElevation are allowed as long as you do not alter the height or placement of the foundation. Friezes are allowed on the second floor and above, but can not extend past the original foundation.

No additional buildings can be added to the lot. This means no detached garages or outbuildings.

There are no style or pattern requirements nor is there any price restrictions, so use your imagination to come up with your entry.

You may use Store, EP and SP content. No 3rd party CC. Yes pay store content is allowed.

PICTURE REQUIREMENTS
You may post up to 8 pictures of your house. The required pictures: Street view, Living room, Kitchen and bedroom may not be collaged. Your 3 bonus pic and the floor plan may be collaged.

Street View: One picture of the lot from the outside, from the front, with all the levels showing. This is a required pic.
Floor Plans: One picture of each level of the lot, from a high overhead view. If you have multiple levels, you may post these collaged together into a single image, or as separate images - your choice. This is a required pic.
Living Room: One picture of the living room This is a required pic.
Kitchen: One picture of the kitchen This is a required pic.
Bedroom: One picture of one of the bedrooms This is a required pic.
Three Bonus Pics: You may post up to three additional photos of whatever part of your lot you want to show off These are not required, but hey why not show off your hard work and you can collage pics together woohoo!

JUDGING
All lots must be posted by January 21, 2012 by midnight (Eastern US). On Monday January 23, 2012 we will post a poll for everyone to cast their vote for the best lot.

So what are you waiting for post to let us know you are interested in participating, download the lot and most important - Have Fun & Happy Simming!

RE: CS3 January Foundation Challenge
Ok 3rd edit, lol

I was able to install the package file so I would like to join. I'm looking forward to building on a specific foundation. Some of my best houses came from a quirky foundation or part of a foundation and built around or from. For a moment I wasn't sure I could join in. I couldn't install the sims pack because it requires the latest patch. I don't plan on patching anytime soon. I won't say I will never buy another EP/SP but it's no longer a decision I will take lightly.

RE: CS3 January Foundation Challenge
If you are installing the Package version, does it go in Mods or the Library? Or even Installed worlds?
I've always used Sims 3 packs before, but I'm with Simbody about patching. I have too much that's going to need fixing if I patch.

Ghost: Place the package file in your Library Folder. It will then show up in the lot bin for you. I hope you can get it to work as I would love seeing what you come up with.

Glad you are joining Dante, I will add your name.

We are thinking about doing one of these every other month, with something different inbetween, to keep it interesting.

Question:

We can't touch the footprint. That's clear. But, for the others floors?

Yes, I will allow participants to extend the floor tiles 2 grid spaces from the original foundation on the second floor and above. This is the same as what the game allows without using columns.

Thanks for letting me know I missed something in the rules, I will add this now.
